My little bit about the game. I like it, yes its pretty good eye candy, no its not that deep technically, but i can't stop playing it.

USA - I hate them for some reason. Their choppers are good for dropping off resources, but it would be better if they ddin't always go for the closest supply depot, it would make my micromanagement of resources a hell lot easier. The humvee is pretty cool, when playing on brutal against the US, they always send a fast ass humvee loaded with rocket launcher guys and takes out a couple of my construction guys cuz they're so quick. I dont' like their patriot missle defense either. HORRIBLE against infantry. Their air force is pretty good, well actaully the best in the game, but I don't like it that much. Sites like ign said the commache copter is almost too powerful but hell I tried using them as my primary weapon one map and i lost horribly. The pod bot idea thing is cool and helps a lot. I don't like the tractor beam thing too much though (their superpower).

China - My favorite to play with. My strategy for them... arm your base nicely, try to survive as long as you can, then mass produce like 10-30 hackers, put em around your base, you'll be getting like 300$ a second in no time. I love their overloards too. Put a propaganda tower on one, two chain gun thingies on a couple others, and theyll mow down anything then repair themselves. They're by far my favorite side (not because i'm asian!), but because I like their sheer power and defense capabilities (fire wall, etc.)

Terrorists - Whatever the hell CC decided to call them ,theyre pretty good too. I don't like the whole splash damage thing cuz I always kill myself with it. Scud missles are SWEET, and they have fun units.

I'm not that experienced of a RTS player. I enjoyed the original C&C, along with red alert, didn't like starcraft and the whole age of empire/mythology too much, hated Tiberian Sun, liked Red Alert 2, and like generals. As far as balance and all that is concerned you're asking the wrong person. For the less complicated and less skilled and for pure entertainment, I like the game

Do you people still buy games? Say hello to news groups.

It costs me less time and money to buy a game rather than download it and this way I support the developers.

Plus, I moved out of my mother's basement and I'm sort of an adult now.

actually EA is a company that's not worth supporting. the developers of C&C Generals DONT exist anymore. half were laid off, the other half were moved to LA and merged with the MoHAA team.

and has anyone ever actually been in contact with ea's tech support, I bought bf1942 in Nov. I didn't get it to work until the 1.3 patch was released 2 weeks ago. I've probably sent out for tech support at least 4 doz. times and even tried finding a tech support phone number, the only one I found charge you .50 a min. I paid for the game it should work right out of the box with the approved hardware right? btw, still haven't heard from them from all my requests for tech support.

wttw though once I did finally get it to install right I seem to spend a lot of time playing it.

I loved c&c, red alert, and ra2....maybe I'll get it for my b-day in june. I usually wait to buy them until I can get them for under $30.
Age of Wonders 2 is pretty cool but it seems to be hard to find, I guess because it's a german development.

I ordered mine from gogamer.com. They usually have fantastic deals, but I feel like I may be getting shafted from them. I paid ~$54 shipping included. I think I'm going to cancel that order and just buy it at BestBuy or something. Shipping costs suck.

The good thing about gogamer is that you can get up to three games for the same shipping as one. Also, wouldn't you need to pay tax at BB?

i went to BB today and they didnt have any copies... oh well i will just wait until gogamer has it for around $30

Mine shipped from GameStop yesterday, $54.98 here :frown: However, they were giving out a bonus disc, and some bonus stuff out for pre-orders that I don't believe Best Buy has

Yeah gogamer is good when there are 3 games on sale you want, but 5 bucks shipping for one game makes the price not so great. Worth it if you buy 3 cause it's only one dollar more for the second and third.

The thing with gogamer is that Preorders can't take advantage of the 3-for-1 shipping. It makes sense business-wise for games already out, but it sucks for preorders.

The minimum amount you can put on the Gamer Gift Cards is one cent...I bought five then put the five cents towards Generals in addition to 18.28 in credit to put my total in store credit down to a nice even 100 bucks. I didn't go apesh*t and buy 40 like I'm SURE some will. But at least now I can rest assured knowing I PROBABLY have enough 5 dollar off coupons to last me until next XMas.

which best buy?
the 2 here in arlington, va said $5.00 is the minimum

there are 7 missions for each side, China, GLA, USA. The endings are rendered using game engine followed by a movie clip of pieces of scenes you seen during the game. During skirmish, USA units are way too powerful. just keep on building drones for all you vehicals and they almost never die. Then comes GLA, you can beat just about anything with nothing but the bombing trucks, also got great anti air units. Worst is china.... nothing good can be said about them.

I have been playing a friend several days now and I have to disagree.

as far as strategy goes.

the gla is like the zerg... you have to attack fast and keep attacking to get them to react to your forces and not you reacting to them. thier tanks are worthless though like 2-3 of the basic usa tanks can easily dominate 5 of the 'heavy' gla tanks. They just don't have enough armor. you need to use mainly troops... bomb guys against thier tanks along with rpg guys and a few soldiers to hold them off. send in a tractor after you kill tanks to clean up thier soldiers... the tractors are by far one of the most powerful units early in the game. the underground network is thier big thing just put all your troops in it and you can put them whereever they attack if a player tries to rush you early. just make sure they don't get a flametank or tractor near it cuase you can lose them all when they try to exit.

China is a good middle man team decent troops and decent tanks. thier big tanks are really powerful but they suck against troops. make sure you have an apc or to along with a fire artillery. thier artilery is nice but weakly armored so you have to protect it. don't mess with the nuke silo it takes 6 minutes to build a missle. Thier troops are also fairly powerful early thier basic soldiers build two at a time. Also their hacker troops ability to hack and steal buildings is very annoying.

USA good turtle team. capture a couple oilrigs and put a few missle turrets up and get a humvee early to rush to thier oil rig site and capture it... send a dozer to build a couple missle turrets there to. USA is very powerful and very easy to use becuase of everyones natural insticnt to build tanks... add a couple tomahawk guys and not a whole lot can stop you. The particle cannon is sweet combined with spy sattalites you can build the particle cannon and almost have it charged in 6 minutes. Just look for thier nuke silo and while it is charging send in some troops to try and kill a power plant. what is nice about the cannon is that once it fires you can move the beam. VERY simmilar to the sattalite beam weapon they had in the new james bond movie. you can easily build a copule of them if you have nough power and just sit back an waste thier base then clean up later with troops. like hit a couple power plants then send in 4 aurora bombers to clean the rest of the buildings up.

oil towers are by far the most valuable resource in the game are the oil towers... 100$ every tenseconds or so. all you have to do is research capture.

in general watch your base and play the resources.... if you have to destory thier oiltowers... don't let them get more of those than you. If anything try to capture thiers.

Has anyone checked their local Best Buy(s)? I called mine and they still said they didn't have it. Its strange...soo, any other news from Best buy?
