how do you capture buildings? I want to take some of those oil derricks, but I have no idea how to get them.

anyone know?

😛 according that, you have to click on the guy to take it over, click on the "capture building" icon, then click on the building.

*shrug* i haven't tried capturing a oil derrick or anything...
 
You have to choose the "capture building" upgrade. I think it costs 1000 or something. It is an upgrade feature when you click on your barracks. You can't capture a building like an oil derrick without it.

I purchased that, and it still appears NO unit can capture this building... it's messed!!!
 
you're trying to capture with normal infantry? i can't find any other tips on capturing a building that what has been posted. From the Generals message board:

**Be careful about going after oil derrick too early. While they will no doubt pay for themselves many times
over the cost of the infantry and of purchasing the Capture Building upgrade, it can put a damper on your
production capabilities. Build the infantry first and send one to each oil derrick you want to capture. Once
it looks like you will be able to capture it buy the upgrade so once it's done the derricks can be captured
immediately. Doing it this way also allows you to a $1,000 refund by canceling the upgrade if you need the
money immediately such as if the enemy attacks very early. You don't want the money to be wasted on
an upgrade you never had a chance to use.

If you're china you use Lotus from the barracks.

If you're GLA I can't remember.

If you're USA you use a regular infantry machine gun guy and you use the Capture Building upgrade, which costs $1000. I can't remember which building. THen once you have it the capture building icon on that guy will no longer dim out and you can click it and then on the target building.

I'm pretty sure all base level soldiers can caputer buildings, you just have to research "Capture Building" at the barracks, then send the units to the building.
A little arrow pointing towards the ground will replace the cursor when you move the mouse over the building you want to capture.
 
Hm, I see.. well I think my first game was using GLA but I am not sure. just clicked through everything cause I wanted to play. I'll have to try some more later. Thanks, I will return back to this thread after I try. 😀
