Coming soon: Asus N4L-VM DH and a Core Duo T2400 1.83ghz. The motherboard looks to have decent OC potential, so I'll get it as high as I can get it, and then start the benchmarking...darn credit cards!! Motherboard isn't in stock yet, but I am on auto-notify.

Stevty, Why did you select the Core Duo over the same cost (but faster?) Presler, such as the D 920? (I ask only to learn, there is no criticism implied; I do not know much at all about the Core Duo CPUs.)

Only two DIMM slots, I suppose that it has to mimic a laptop platform.

Also you should be able to upgrade to Merom later on when it is released, with a possible BIOS update, is that correct?

Anyway i look forward to your results, 3Ghz maybe? :D

Cause I already have an X2 a Presler, and an 805 smithfield. Oh, and considering my pentium-m @2.4ghz is faster at gaming than my P4 was @3.8ghz, I don't think it's gonna be slower in any way shape or form, and gonna run a lot cooler. May even be able to perform as well as my X2, which my presler and smithfield can not. Plus I can get it for a really good price ;)

Thats a possiblity too, being able to upgrade to Merom with a bios update, that would be nice. I'm thinking it has a decent chance of getting to somewhere near 3ghz, but guess I'll find out soon enough. Doesn't look like the motherboard will be in stock for a couple more weeks.

Because the core DUO is a taste of the future, and its IPC & pipeline length is alot more efficient then its netburst 9xx series counterpart.

Basically this processor should spank the 920 once its OC?ed a little, not to mention i think stevty has already had enough trouble with his current 920.

Yeah, at least both cores work on my second 920, but it's only running at 3.43ghz. The first one still works fine as a single core @2.8ghz, a nice upgrade for my parents over their 1.6ghz northwood.

$99 for a Core Duo motherboard that has a 16x PCI-E is a definite steal.

I wish they'd make a full ATX version with more expansion. You know any place to get Core Duo's for cheap?

Newegg, zipzoomfly, and Ewiz.com all have them for decent prices. The 1.83ghz is around the same price as an X2 3800+(~$300). I suspect it will overclock as well as the X2, but I'll let ya know for sure once I actualy have it.

No word on how well Asus's Core boards overclock. But I have high expectations because it is an Asus. Most Yonahs seem to be hitting 2.5Ghz at stock fairely easily with the Aopen board. In general Mobile parts will overclock better because they are cherry picked for low voltage at a specified frequency.
