Can I come out as a former Conservative? Let me join in the fun... I used to be in the club (I had a subscription to the Limbaugh letter and the RNC used to send me this nifty little plastic card all the time...) ;)

Oh... maybe I'm mistaken. It was ALL Southern whites who would lynch negroes.

As a registered Republican I'm disgusted with this pussification. For all their talk against political correctness, what the "College Republicans" call for is ridiculous. It should be fairly obvious that in a liberal arts class dealing with often subjective topics, the professor is pushing their viewpoints as their professional contentions, just as a textbook does, just as many aspects of the physical sciences are contentions pushed by scientists. If you're simple-minded enough to be "indoctrinated" by a lecture, too bad, you deserve to be misled and manipulated. I think this is a case of people hearing what they don't want to hear (oh God everyone must make me feel better), or some bad grades and suddenly they're a "repressed Republican."

Are we talking about the lynchings in the 1900s? Or post civil war? North and South, republican or democrat. It didnt matter, and it didnt matter in the 1900s either.

Thanks for clarifying. I'm not exactly a "KKK history buff." I guess since everyone was doing it, it was simply a silly indescretion of an earlier time.

"I would go out into my mom's car, turn it on auxiliary and listen to Rush Limbaugh."
HAHAHAHA when you get older (i know that only means >20 yrs for this crowd), and have a wife and kids....you end up refering to the wifey as "mom"....and yes, i've gone out to mom's car and listened to Rush too!
check it out, if you see a professional appearing middle aged person (at least i think i'm middle aged, although AARP membership may be and option soon) sitting out in their parked car at noon..odds are their listening to Rush!

Like the Germans killing the jews, Eh? What kind of crap is this!! you try to smear conservatives as lynchers of blacks, when your own liberal/democrat Senator "Robert "Sheets" Byrd pontificates in the Senate.....
LINCOLN freed the slaves ..he was a Republican...all those looney Republicans (like Trent Lott..), where previously DEMOCRATS! they changed parties (we never really liked em) and gave the Republicans a bad name in the process..remember George Wallace...he was a former democrat....
please, try to get the facts straight..democrats have the burden of history on their collective backs when it comes to racial issues...NOT the Republicans.

and if IRC, they were labeled as Deomcrats at the time. It was the progressive Republican carpetbaggers that came to rebuild the south and make it a better place.

But I came out of the closet in 91' while in college.. I had a "rush is right" sticker on the bumper of my scout, was a member of "campus republicans". Then I learned the whole thing is a lie. Not only do they LOVE big governement they LOVE defered taxation which costs more in the long run.

My oh my a little overly defensive aren't we? I never mentioned any political party in my comments. Merely that I doubt "social progressives" were lynching blacks. I'm sorry if I insulted any bigots.

Way more information than I wanted to know...

No, they ran to become Republicans because it was politically expedient (They were "Dixiecrats" that didn't have a major party affiliation after they left the Dems and tried to form their own party and failed to get anywhere with it) Much to the ultimate harm of the Republican Party..these politicians joined the Republican Party in an effort to save their political hides from obscurity and oblivion, and many Republicans today rue the day these folks joined our party...but they were Democrat Spawn to begin with, not true bred Republicans.
