Question Coming from a GTX 770

Ok, so I'm coming from a (https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125462) Gigabyte GV-N770OC- GTX 770 4GB.

I want to grab a 2070 but with the issues with the Micron chips, I don't want to get the wrong card. What is the sentiment right now beside a huge lack of price/performance reduction for this series. I would buy a 1080 ti but I just feel that going current gen is best option from the 770.

Thoughts?

If i got 1660 ti, i might as well just buy the 1080 ti. Better card with same capabilities. I know it's ultra cheap. but I am willing to spend the $5-600 for the 2070. But thank you for the suggestion.

well, the 2060 is $349, and slightly faster than a 1070. That might be an option. And I have heard nothing bad about any of them.

The micron chip is some less intelligent people talking about stuff they dont know anything about. If you want a 2070 you get it, gamersnexus has debunked the "higher rma on rtx series" so has most other none usless tech people on youtube. All you got left is the less intelligent reddit crowd and about garbage level youtubers. I have the first batch of FE 2080TI with the micron chip first in the europe shipment. It does +1100Mhz for 24/7 load. According to this "people" this is not possible and the card should be dead long time ago yes.

Actually building a new comp all together. But didn't want to post in the build guide section as this was just limited to the GPU. But for the sake of the question, Im going:

i5-9600k
32 GB DDR4-3000 Corsair Vengeance
Z390 Aorus Elite ATX
SX6000 Pro 1 TB M.2 SSD
BarraCuda 4 TB HHD

No real OC right now, will consider it with the option to OC the CPU

If you're concerned about some of the reported issues with the RTX series, whatever GPU you decide to go with, buy an EVGA card as they tend to have really good service if you should need it if you get a card that happen to give you "Space Invaders".

Went from an EVGA GTX780 to an EVGA RTX2060 (pushing 1920x1200 resolution)
VERY satisfied.Zero regrets.
Wouldn't even touch the 1660Ti unless there was some sort of budget constraint.

If you have the money for RTX2070, go for it. Bad cards were from the early batches from what I hear. Stick to EVGA if you are worried.

RTX 2060 would be a much better value, as its only 13% slower than the RTX 2070, yet something like 30% cheaper.

Alternatively you could buy the RTX 2080 which IS in fact a better and newer 1080ti. RTX 2070 is the worst card you can get right now.

i just pulled a GTX 970 from my PC and installed an RTX 2070 from EVGA. WOW what a difference. The bench number was doubled. I now wonder if there was something wrong with the 970.

Yeah 900 series is what, 5 years old now? Great value that's for sure.

apparently Kepler is going to be moved to legacy Support next month, so totally a good moment to get rid of it.

I know Kepler is old, but given how a 780 performs on most games and DX11 it feels like they should've waited until 2020 when the new consoles are out... oh well..

there might be more driver releases to fix security issues for a bit, but it's basically no more drivers,
no more performance optimization from drivers, and most game devs do the same, stop optimizing/testing with these GPUs once their support is over,
it varies from game to game, but you will likely see more broken games and performance bellow expectation, a sharper decline from now on (but Kepler was already not doing great in many titles, it will only get worse for 2GB of vram anyway)

as for a new card with your Haswell machine, there should be no problem at all, it's a fairly current platform, UEFI, PCIE 3.0, seems unlikely that any new card would have issues, I totally think it's worth upgrading just the VGA for your PC.

in terms of value based on current performance the 1660 ti is likely better than the 2060, but the RTX stuff is cool to have in at least 1 or 2 games for now.

somehow I missed the mobile part of the news... my bad!

in any case, the points about Kepler already showing its age in games optimization and most 770s being limited to 2GB stand, and are a compelling reason to upgrade!

Nice price and upgrade. Like me and my 1070ti we may be waiting a minute for a viable upgrade from these. I guess since i lock myself into the popular BF series mainly i may be set for a while myself . I haven't took a good look at whats new game wise coming minus the new Borderlands up but i am curious to see if Raytracing will be more of a push for gamers to upgrade or could graphics engine look way better then lets say Frostbite and also warrant lets say a 2080 ti right now. Will be interesting to see where things go.

Got a nice 1660ti from microcenter, about $250 after rebate. Threw in another 256 SSD (only $30 bucks nowl!) and my machine should carry me for a bit.

Should be ready for wow classic this summer lol!
