Comic book suggestions?

OK so I haven't read any comics for at least 10 years. I was on bbzzdd last night and saw a couple thor comics in the top 25 (Cleeek). It perked my interest to read a comic again. Any suggestions? I'd try and get that Thor 3 one on bbzzdd but I'm pretty positive that if I go into the comic store and ask the comic book guy for Thor 3 he'll start to laugh at me and tell me there are 15 versions of Thor 3.

And you should continue on this path.

but I thought it'd be fun. I've never really read a whole comic book series...just bits and pieces of a couple x-men ones when I was a kid

if you're a fan of marvel, you'll enjoy it.

That looks good. So is the entire series all done and it's only 7 long?

no its like 30 diffrent issues spread out amoung diffrent books.

to be fair it had potential. teh "war" sucks. it was more of a bitch slap BUT it has opened up some great stories!

now spider-man is a villien and Venom is a good guy!

So would it be easy to find all 30? I have no desire to hunt down an entire series. I'd love to just go buy an entire series at once.

Any links for me? Telling comic book guy I want the new wolverine probably wouldn't go over well also. Also how long is it?

its like 10 issues. well maybe more since M-day series starts it.

pretty much the idea is Logan has ALL his memories back and he is learning what and who he is and why he has history with the guys he does.

well the civil war series itself is only 7 issues long. however, it's a crossover series so there are events that are covered in more detail in the individual hero series that are only glossed over in the main series.

just buy the 7 issues to start, you won't be disappointed. and if you are, you'll at least definitely be interested in reading other series again to get more insight into the events leading up to and after the civil war series.

Sounds like some good advice. I'll try and find a local comic shop and go pick them up.

Want to know a serial comic that isn't childish to read? A new one at that, one with only 3 issues out but will have quite a few issues and volumes:
The Amory Wars, the story written by Claudio Sanchez of Coheed and Cambria, and is the concept is also the source of the lyrics for Co&Ca's current and future albums. Really good story, very deep judging from what can be interpreted from the lyrics.
I haven't ordered issue 3 yet, because I am waiting for issue 4 so I can order both and save on shipping. MerchNow is a bitch about shipping rates. Comic costs $4, and the shipping is equal. Bah!
to cover what serves as the beginning of the story, at least the concept of the first two issues: a father must choose whether or not to kill his children based on the premise that he has been told by some dark people (of what is essentially a government-type system) that his children are basically the harbingers of death for all mankind (at this point spread across a large collection of planets). That man is Coheed, and his wife is Cambria. The rest of the story follows them.
It a new sci-fi epic that is actually very nicely conceptualized.

for more detail if interested, and a look at how the idea of the comic series has developed over time:

!!!

Thor volume 3 is pretty good so far I guess, theres only 3 issues out atm. Issue #3 was an instant fanboy hit :p

Some comic book series I recommend:

Runaways volume 1 & 2 (volume 2 isn't quite finished yet, new Marvel series)
Silver Surfer: Requiem (this is outside continuity but its so good)
Cable & Deadpool (any Deadpool is good) click
Marvels
Kingdom Come (DC universe)
Planet Hulk (continues into World War Hulk)
Civil War is ok, the Captain America followup (still running) is good.
Iron Man: Extremis
The Ultimates Volume 1 & 2

I'll think of more when I get home.

Edit: rofl, I should have realized the Thor comics you linked were the ones I uploaded. That would be the middle part of Thor volume 3, issue #3. Uploaded to show friend some Iron Man beatdown :p (In the panel before the first I uploaded he had more or less asked Thor to register).

Screw it, THIS is the only version of Civil War you need to read: http://mightygodking.com/index...t-need-your-civil-war/ (click on each pictures to show a full comic page)

Is that the entire comic? I think I'm lost as to what that is.

He took Civil War and changed all the dialog. Not only is it funny, but the writing on the re-mix is MUCH better than the original.
