Comfort bikes

I am looking at the Raleigh SC300, Comfort series bike -site

I test rode the SC300 today and must say its lives up to the "comfort" title. My question is are there similar bikes from other manufactures that are as good/better than the raleigh? Or should I stop looking and by this one based on the test ride? Priced at $479

I will be riding on gravel roads and paved bike paths or roads in the event anyone has other suggestions for different bikes.
