Here’s a traffic update for you: Fired FBI chief James Comey threw himself under the bus yesterday in his testimony before a Senate Committee. Sure, he described the President as a liar...but the lie Comey complained about was that the FBI was an agency in shambles with Agents who didn’t trust the man at the top. Comey described himself as a man too weak to tell his boss, Donald Trump, that Trump was out of line. He admitted to lying to the American people about the Criminal Investigation of Hillary Clinton because Democrat operative and Attorney General Loretta Lynch told him to lie. Gee, I’m sure FBI agents had full confidence in a guy like that. And then the same Comey who one month ago was complaining to congress about leaks of secret information...confessed to the congress that he himself became a leaker...to the New York times...to plant a story about Donald Trump...that he hoped would bring a damaging investigation of the President. Good Riddance to Leaky Jim. Clearly the Hillary Clinton Criminal Investigation must be re-opened due to the fact that the obama and Comey "colluded" to drop the Criminal Investigation so she could continue on with her illusory facade of "innocence" and run for president. The obama / Comey dismissal of hillary was a total "Pencil Whip" and a clear violation of the "Rule Of Law". Comey sounds like a millennial wimp looking for a safe space.

I've Got Big Tardness enters the thread.

It's also important to ask yourself these questions in a 'he said, she said' scenario to determine which party is more credible: is one of the parties Donald Trump? Is the other party literally any human being other than Donald Trump? If so, they are more credible.

Trump has been a pathological liar for decades. Saying he has zero credibility is an insult to the concept of zero.

Oh, there's no doubt about any of that. Trump has lied 100's of times. I can't recall a single instance of Comey having done so. There is also the fact that Comey told people about this contemporaneously. But all that has been argued many times.

I'm trying to make a different point - that if someone is going to make something up to incriminate someone else, say because of sour grapes over being fired, which is what conservatives are arguing, they're certainly not going to do it in such a way as to give the person they are trying to incriminate a possible "out." These conservatives who are arguing both of these things at the same time do not seem to understand that they don't really go together.

Also, the argument they are making about "I hope" implicitly assumes that Trump is lying here. If Comey made the whole thing up, why bother even parsing the alleged words? Clearly they are making this argument because they know that Trump is lying just as much as we do.

It also accepts the premise that if it was an order, it would have been illegal, hence the 'out' of 'well it wasn't a real order so it doesn't count'. Which says all sorts of things about what they consider to be acceptable behavior from the CIC.

Either that or they simply don't care that they don't go together and are simply trying to cloud the issue, which of course from a good governance standpoint is monstrous as they are basically admitting the president is a liar and committed these acts but think it's their job to obfuscate.

I'm curious what the ramifications are if Trump's tries to go after Comey for leaking his personal memos. He is no longer a government employee, as far as what I've seen no one has indicated that what he did would be deemed illegal and the meetings were not classified. Would this fall under whistle-blower laws? Would Trump actually face further issues by seeking retaliation for an act that was not illegal for Comey to do?

Any action he takes would appear as though he was simply retaliating because he didn't like what Comey said if there was no illegality to Comey's actions.

I think this would be hilarious, and I hope he does it, if only to see the various twitter reactions, SNL skits, and memes that will follow.

Too many posts to quote ... I'll just address to the last couple or so ...

In order to believe the "Comey is lying" bit, you'd have to also believe that he drafted the memos with the lies already there at the time it happened. As they were distributed to others, this would have to be the case. Something tells me this train of thought hasn't been fully thought out by those pushing the theory.

The theory also dies a swift death if any of the officials alleged to have been asked to pressure Comey are forced to answer questions about it. Any one of McCabe/Coats/Rogers admits that Trump asked them to push Comey, and the game is up.

News today is that Mueller is likely to depose Trump. Does he stick with the story, or tell the truth?

The discrepancies in legal talent/experience being assembled on both sides of this case are staggering. On the one side you have someone that has handled personal cases related to business dealings and divorces against the DoJ equivalent of the Yankees' murderer's row. The specializations being placed on Mueller's team leave little to the imagination on what direction this is all going and also that there are serious issues here. The team already announced isn't what I'd expect if they weren't finding anything or not expecting to press significant charges. The DoJ guy added last week (Weissman) specialized in mob and FCPA/fraud investigations. Today, it's their appeals and criminal law expert (Dreeben).

Funny, other than Trumpettes, that strange minority it seems that Comey is seen having given one best testimonies given in years.

It was a good testimony. I would have been so nervous, he handled himself very well. Well spoken, and just enough jabs to get under their skin. Defended himself well, deflected well, and countered well. Very good testimony.

The timeline of the tweet is an interesting twist, guess we'll see what happens with that and if all true. Comey stated Trumps tweet is why he leaked it, but a story ran before the tweet with the same information. I personally would love to hear what was really said in their talks. I'd be inclined to believe Trump was more untruthful, Comey has his legacy and the FBI's to protect too though.

I just heard Trump agreed to testify, under oath, to Mueller, his side of the story?? WTF??

Link???

What's the WTF? If there are no tapes then it's simply his word against Comey's. He can lie all he wants about it and there's no risk of perjury. It's a good way to appear more truthful while not having to actually be truthful.

No it didn't. That was a lie. Stop watching fake news.

He can say he'd testify under oath, but probably no chance his lawyers allow it (if they have any say). This way he gets to appear as if he's got nothing to hide while knowing he'll never have to actually do it.

He won't do it how many times have we heard this show?

I'll release my taxes before the election
I'll release my taxes before being sworn in
I'll release my taxes after the audit is complete
I'll put my money in a blind trust
I'll donate all foreign money that comes into Trump Hotels
I'll be working very hard every weekend

Trump just likes to say shit. He doesn't like being responsible for shit

Yes but Trump does one thing well: Serves up swimming pools of liberal tears

All those AM talk radio shows are giddy about Trump, because he pisses off everyone they hate. OMNOMNOM LIB TEARS is their whole philosophy, period

It's confirmed then... There are no tapes. He has until June 23 to produce the tapes and his team will milk that deadline for all its worth... But there are no tapes.
