Nothing like blunt force political pressure within the Obama administration which explicitly directed the FBI to align their rhetoric with prevailing Clinton campaign spin of the on-going criminal investigation. Lynch didn't say she hoped Comey would see his way clear to do it...she explicitly ordered him to call the FBI's criminal investigation of Hillary Clinton a "matter" and used her authority as AG purely for political purposes in doing so. Are you OK with this?

This is a wonderful example of everything we've been talking about when it comes to conservative hypocrisy.

DSF dismissed the statement under oath by the former director of the FBI that he was fired for investigating the current administrations possibly criminal actions related to activities with a hostile foreign power as a 'nothing burger' but is now absolutely outraged at the abuse of power when the same guy testified to when he said the former attorney general told him to use a different word to describe something for political reasons.

Lynch's actions sure sound wrong to me but they are not even on the same planet of wrongdoing as the things you consistently dismiss as nothing. Thank you for posting that. I've rarely seen the hypocrisy distilled so well.

It seems Trump's lawyer will file a complaint with the DOJ about Comey leaking. Even though that info and testimony are claimed to be lies by the president. Not to mention the fact that it was Trump himself who started talking about those conversations.

lol

It basically boils down to calling Comey a liar who is telling the truth but he can't be believed except believe him.

Can't make this shit up.

I've always appreciated the incoherence that Trump consistently displays about these leaks. First they are all lies and second the people leaking them should be prosecuted for divulging classified information. If what's being leaked isn't real then there's nothing classified there.

I think Trump should appear in front of congress, under oath, to state his case and clear himself once and for all.

Comey also stated under oath that the NYT article saying Trump campaign aides had repeated contact with Russian intelligence was "In the main, it was not true". Today the NYT is standing by their article. Somebody's lying. Who do you think it is?

I wonder if the phenomenon of only nutter posters here defending Donny is representative of the real world. One can hope ...

So he was lying about all the parts except the ones that fit your narrative? Is that how this goes?

Remember the CBO score on the AHCA the first time? Believe the parts here but this over here... this is garbage and they don't know what they are doing.

Since he didn't say what parts of the article he was disputing it's hard to know what's going on there without more information. It's also not necessarily that anyone is lying as Comey may simply have had information those others lacked that change the story or vice versa.

Regardless, that's a deflection. You're outraged by Lynch telling Comey to use a different word when describing an investigation yet have consistently dismissed exponentially greater abuses of power by Trump as 'nothing'. It's impossible to take what you write seriously when you're that brazenly hypocritical.

No. Now that I've answered your question, care to answer mine?
I think each side has different interpretations of what Comey said. Maybe the individuals that the campaign aides contacted were not acting as Russian intelligence at the time? Maybe they were, but 'repeated contacts' meant something different to Comey than to the NYT. Maybe that whole thing was bullshit and NYT was lying? Maybe NYT was indeed privy to something that escaped the FBI?

I don't know, but I'm not going to immediately call one a liar just because someone else is saying something different. We need more information.

So let me get this straight. The same lawyer that couldn't spell president. The same lawyer that couldn't get a simple 5 time stamped events over the course of a week straight? The same lawyer that is going to try and file a complaint against one of the highest ranking officers of investigation providing his own handwritten notes to a paper? That lawyer?

The. BEST. PEOPLE.

Try using the word "mistaken" rather than the word "lying".

Well, unless emotional baggage is the important part of your message, which I think it is.

Trump. Trump is lying. Water is wet. The sun rises in the east.

It is likely that neither Comey nor the NYT is lying. Lying requires intent to deceive. I expect the NYT honestly reported what they were told by their four sources. Those four sources, in turn, probably honestly reported what they knew (or what they thought they knew) about Trump associates and Russia. But, there were likely some omissions and errors due to incomplete information, misunderstandings, etc. Comey, with more complete, first-hand information truthfully stated the NYT article was inaccurate. Since Comey wasn't specific, we can only speculate about what they got wrong.

He said the "main part"...obviously referring to the main premise of the article. Are you really that fucking dense?

I'm not deflecting a damn thing...I'm talking about things we learned from Comey's testimony yesterday and one of those things was Lynch's clear abuse of power for political purposes. Sorry that such a comment doesn't play well inside your myopic bubble of what you perceive as relevant or important.

Or you know the NYT could actually have sources that stated that and those sources are wrong. The NYT is only stating that sources in the government are telling them this. That could easily be true with out the actual facts being correct.

Of course, that could be true too, but that'd run counter to the 'EVERYONE'S MY ENEMY' platform.

And perhaps Comey was "mistaken" when he felt that Trump's expression of hope was actually an order to let Flynn go.

No, just smart enough to know that it's impossible to make a judgment about what is going on when you don't even know what they are disagreeing about. How dense would someone have to be to make a judgment based on what amounts to functionally zero information? I have no idea if anyone is lying because I have no idea what is going on. You don't have any idea either but apparently have decided that someone is lying, which is foolish.

Hahaha, you are sure as hell deflecting and you know it. Again, it is frankly hilarious that you are furiously attacking Lynch for a 'clear abuse of power for political purposes' while dismissing testimony from Comey that details vastly worse, potentially criminal behavior by the president as a 'nothing burger'. If you're angry about what Lynch did you should be starting a torch mob about what Trump did and instead you keep telling everyone to ignore it. When you're this much of a hypocrite how is anyone supposed to take what you say seriously?

Any rational person, when told by a boss (especially a C-level boss, a General or President would also apply) that he 'hopes' for something to happen that's within the presumed scope of that person's capabilities, that it's intended to be an order.
