Goldfish die fast? They can live over 30 years...you just have to take care of them and putting a fish that can get over 1' in size in a fish bowl is not taking care of it.

If you want fish that is easy to breed. Get Guppies. They cost the same as feeder goldfish. Most of them is pretty much ready to breed already. Just get a breeding nest and watch does baby come out.

If you want to breed fish breed convict cichlids. They are easy to sex (tell the gender) and will breed at a young age...they're fry make good feeders for other fish too.

Goldfish need room lots of room !
The oldest fish i had was a goldfish (a feeder) it lived for 15 years untill my wife sprayed the tank with air freshener:|

Breeding is not hard just build a pond in your back yard add fish, food, and
a large helping of time (untill they mature) the fish will do the rest!

in tanks remember the old rule one inch of fish not including the tail
to every square foot of surface area

I had success with African chilids as they live long and easy to care.
No success at breeding them.

i used to work in a pet store and i learned that the easiest way to keep goldfish alive is to keep the water as cold as possible. it keeps the amounts of ammonia present to a minimum and oxygen concentration stays higher. also, feed them as little as possible (every other day at most) and use a filter (cannister is best) that circulates the water as many times per hour as possible. if the water is warmer you can add airheads to increase the oxygen exchange at the surface.
