I have a friend who drives a truck around delivering, picking up and emptying port-o-potties.

Night jobs rule in my opinion. I always opt to get night shifts especially if there is shift differential pay.

I worked swing shift for a while and a split shift over weekends for 1.5 years. I took that time to brush up on programming and I'm being moved to a regular M-F shift, and I'm the technical lead for my group. If you prove yourself as being ambitious like kranky wrote about, they'll recognize it and reward you. Pay your dues and you'll be rewarded, or you'll have learned enough to take another job.

If I move to Orlando, can you give me a job as an assistant manager?
