Comcast's boxes suck

I have internet with them and TV (Standard), so I get what... 77 - 80 analog channels or so, and with my built in ATSC/QAM tuner I can pick up the HD channels like Fox, CBS, NBC, ABC, etc, maybe like 6 total. I Also get a bunch of digital versions of some of my standard channels (and so the total is roughly 170 digital channels, mostly audio only).

My mom notices the bill is $2 higher and she calls in to ask and finds out its a late charge. Wouldn't you k now the Comcast guy starts going off about how we can get digital cable and he can get us "digital silver" and reduce our total bill by $10. I said why not for the price. Turns out we have to get a box, and if we want HD still, we need to pay $5 for their HD box, but my freaking TV has an HD tuner already, so why pay?

Digital Silver is nice. I get HBO and like a ton of other channels, but all of it is in low def. I can't even get my high-def local channels anymore. So I threw out their stupid box and replugged the coaxial cable into my TV. I prefer to watch my limited channels and have my HD local channels. MTV and TNT and ESPN are enough.

Too bad they have to send digital channels through their central office. Otherwise, I woudl take the box up to my apartment at school and plug it in and enjoy digital cable since I don't have high-def here....

I dropped Comcast in November, their HD DVR's are weak.

Dish Network FTW.
they showed off the comcast tivo box at CES. No pricing was announced or did they say when it would be available. I'm looking forward to it regardless.
