Anyone buy into this? 42.95 for 3MB is the normal rate(atleast for my area) but for 52.95 you can get 4MB. Sounds like a decent upgrade. What's your thoughts.

The up is 384. I believe with the regular I'm getting 256.

until they can match optimum online's 10 Mb down for 49.95 (or 44.95 or 30 with whatever promo), it's not really the great deal. If you really want the upgrade, then definitely, but if you can live without it, then i would save the money

10Mb, damn. Is optimum the name of the company offering that, or is that just the name of Cox's, roadrunner's, adelphia's, or some other companies name for their internet.

It looks like you gotta have Cablevision to get Optimum Online. :( I wish I could get that type of speed.

Around here, it's 5x.xx/mo for Cable Internet.

Basic CableTV is 12$/mo.

If you have both CAI and CATV, they take 10$ off your bill, making it an extra 2$ for basic cable.

But yeah, It makes it around 60$/mo.

Friend has OptOnline, it's nuts =x I'm ok with 1.5/384 dsl though for $30/mo. I wouldn't pay $10 for 4mb vs. 3.

Insight is SO behind when it comes to this. $45 gets me 3mb does, 128kb up. $79 will only raise my up speed to 384kb. :(

the difference in 3Mb vs 4Mb will be hardly detectable...most of the time, the bottleneck is the server you're getting the file from, or the file size is small enough so that it doesn't matter.

I'm sure it's good for some people (a shared connection for example) but I'd hardly consider it myself

For you west-coast people, be sure and check out service from Sure West internet. ~$45/mo gets you 10mbps both ways, with a 40gb monthly bandwidth cap!

SBC DSL gives you plenty of speed... 6mbps down, 608kbps up if you're close enough to the CO.
