We've had to do this around here since like 1995. I had no clue this wasn't a national thing since back then until this thread.

Yeah...if you're not happy with the service, drop it and stick to cell phone service.

Don't see what the issue is. Many around the country have had to do this for well over a decade now. I'm so used to dialing 10 digits for a phone number that it doesn't occur to me not to do it anymore.

As for some suggestions of splitting the area up geographically, that is impossible without a lot of grumbling and griping. So if we split the area that is currently one area code, which side gets to keep the old area code, and which one the new? The half on the new area code will have to get all new phone numbers.

I'd heard something about it and didn't like it at all.

I'm fine with the one-time change to area code for some and keeping 7-digit dialing. I'm grumbling about THIS change, having to dial 1-area code for every local call.

So, you're OK that if someone moves to another part of your town, they have to change their number because of geography? You really haven't thought this all out. What about people who move to another area/state and want to keep their number?

Seriously, you're obviously not intelligent enough to understand how complicated this is and why it's a necessity to use 10 digit dialing. Your choices are

A. Inconvenience everyone at one time to learn how to dial 3 extra digits.
B. Completely screw up all future geography changes to anyone with a phone number in a certain area??

Because of people like you, this exact same thing happened in Atlanta. They got all mad and demanded it be changed back. They did this and it completely screwed things up. Three years later, Atlanta had to introduce more area codes, due to over saturation in a specific area, and had to implement another area code.

Bah... Connecticut switched over to 10 digit dialing years ago. It's really not that bad, since 90% of your calls are from people already in your address book.

I don't use a mobile phone, I use a landline and dial each call. We'll see I I also add a cell phone.

yeah, you're just a slacker, OP. Been 10-digit dialing here on the East Coast for years now. Get with the program!
