Comcast wants $21 a month for HBO

It's probably not Comcast's fault exactly, and most of the blame likely falls on HBO itself, but WTF? I called yesterday to inquire about adding HBO, and they told me it was $20.95 a month. I asked if they had any promotions, and I mentioned that satellite was cheaper, but she said no, there were no promotions.

WTF?

Just for regular HBO? Or is that where you get like 30 of the different HBO channels?

It's ~10 channels, but one of them is the HDTV one, and another two are Latin channels, so it's really like 7. I only want the regular HBO (Entourage FTW), but they don't seem to offer that for digital cable suscribers.

That seems high. One premium is $10.95 / month through Time Warner here in NYC.

That's weird... I've had the $5 HBO promo for 18 months running now on Comcast.... you might want to try adding the channel online and see if any discounts show up for you, or try calling back and hope you get a different customer service rep. You might have to say your calling to cancel, and when asked why, say you'd really like to have HBO at a reasonable price.

Wow!

I just signed up for triple play from Comcast. I'm paying ~$140 for HDTV (wDVR, HBO, Starz and Cinemax) + High Speed Modem + Phone Service.

They will give you a discount if you threaten to cancel. I can add HBO and Showtime for $3 more. I should take up the offer, expires today!

My family ended up cancelling HBO because of Comcast's ridiculous prices for it.

Comcast is the antichrist.

you people really need to learn to work the system. I get HSI/Hi Def w/ DVR/Digital Classic for around $25/month after rebate. I don't watch HBO, but I bet if I called and said I'm cancelling I could get HBO for cheap.

Well, HBO is like 6 different channels... but I really don't know why someone would waste the money on that when you can get Netflix or unlimited rentals at Hollywood Video for less.

HBO has THE best original content of any premium channel, but I'm willing to wait until it's on DVD.

HBO takes forever to release their programming on DVD though :p

I found an old Cable bill and the price was $15 for basic plus $4.95 for HBO and showtime. Those were the days.

They do that so you won't get just 1 channel "a la carte".

Here in the Boston area it's the same price for 1 premium channel as it is for the Digital Silver bundle.
