Got the standard RCA modem that came with the service 5 years ago. No problems for me.. except when it was TCI and went out every day 😛

TCI?

once a cable provider, which was bought by AT&T, which was bought by Comcast.

I have had a good experience with the Motorola Surfboard 5100 i bought from CC.

In Pittsburgh, I had the surfboard 4100. Here in CA, I bought my own dlink DCM-201. Both work wonderfully. Comcast initially gave me that god awful rca one which sucked ass and wouldn't stay connected for more than 10 min. I called them and *INSISTED* on a motorola one. It worked, and was smooth sailing since.

You too can do that 🙂 Down with the RCA!

I'm using some crappy 3com modem that I got from ebay. It sucks ass. Always losing a connection. Suggestions for a new one?

I had a 3com office connect that I bought from ebay, it completely died after about 18 months. I have had a motorola sb5100 for about the same length of time now and haven't had any problems. If you watch the BestBuy flyers motorola often has rebates that put the the surfoboards in the $40 range.
