Comcast transition day

Today was our transition day from @Home to Comcast's private network. At least I can say that the changeover has occured - my IP has changed from 24.xx.xx.xx to 68.xx.xx.xx - and I still have Internet service! Completely transparent...probably wouldn't have known if I didn't check the IP.

However, connection speeds took a big hit. Bye, bye, 3000/1000. I've run several connection tests with the new network and they've been consistently around 1000/80. Ouch. Browsing AT and such seems just as fast but moving files up and down the pipe is going to be problematic.

Sooo...I should be happy the transition was a breeze, but upset that the bandwidth is nothing like it was.

Yes, you should. More than half of AT&T's customers had account problems during our conversion. But never fear! There is someone, somewhere, who's going to be working for two months to get their Comcast account set back up properly and connected again. :disgust:

Congrats though :)

Be warned... hope you don't have more than one IP addy. If so, you'll be without it for a couple weeks. They told me that they want to break in the new servers before they add on the multiple IP addys first. Idiots...

Hey, they're taking baby steps. Would you rather them bite off more than they can chew? Dude... relax. They'll get it soon enough.

Yeah, you are definitely lucky. For about a week after the transition I would frequently lose my connection. A real PITA when you use IRC and play games (not to mention simple web browsing was almost impossible on some days.

Speed is still nowhere near 1500/128, but I'll give them another week or so before I go back to an alternative.

Yup, I switched last night from @home to @cox.net and speeds went from 1500/300 to 600/200.

Hopefully they will go back up when the changeover is complete.
