First I challenge anyone to get them to send an actual lineup that shows exactly what you pay for...they will not do this. they will tell you they can send you a full list and if you ask what's included they can let you know.

What's so hard about teiring the packages online or in print? Deception....

So a couple years ago I signed on from Dish, being promised that I get all channels and all premiums. The only things not included are the latino package, pay per views for free and the sports packages. Cool.

Now I get a letter as if it was only me getting The Movie Channel by mistake and going forward I can get them for $5.99/month (calling in this is actually only for the first 6 months and it will then go to $15.99!)...my basic package is $108 prior to taxes or internet.

Talking about this today, EVERYONE I know had been getting this channel for free and were told it was included originally too.

It appears they have partially rewritten all their online descriptions to mention you get FOUR PREMIUMS and multiplexes now (however Digital Premier still says ALL Premiums).

Also the Movie Channel package has not been listed yet....

Sort of bullshit, this means at any time they can elect to tell you the station you thought you were paying for was accidentially given to you for free....

 I may be going back to dish.

Sounds like they increased their prices. You have other options for your entertainment dollar, you can switch to Dish, DirecTV anytime.

How many people do you know that were dumb enough to sign up for every premium channel?

Check the comcast.com product listings. It's now all or none, at least here in the Seattle area.

Wow, you guys are all satisfied throwing $100 away for TV every month? Geez. Standard cable is enough for me at $45/month. Throw in internet and I'm paying $100... but to pay $100 before internet? Wow.

Wow, you're spending $100 a month instead of using rabbit ears and going to your public library? Wow!

( ... I'm actually considering the rabbit ears part now that "SyFy" has no good shows. )

This isn't completely related, but still good info:
We were paying about $135/mo for Comcast. I called in the other day to tell them I was switching to FiOS and needed to schedule a disconnect date. The rep rattled off about 20 different reasons why that would be a bad idea (some of them legitimate), and finally asked me if lowering the price would help me stay.

She lowered my bill down to $72/mo and did not renew my contract (I'm doing month-to-month).

I used to despise Comcast, just like all of the others, but lately they have gotten much better. I deal with them frequently due to work, and all-in-all their customer support has gotten 10x better, IMO.

Same thing happened to me. I get the Premiere and thought I was getting all the premium channels but for some reason they leave out the the Movie Channel.
It's just bizarre. Who the f*ck would by extra for the Movie Channel? Especially since I get all the other premium channels.
And they also told me I would get "all the premium channels" when I signed up. It wasn't until I tried to tune to The Movie Channel that I noticed I didn't get it.

hmmm for ~$35 package from dish you get the movie channel, strange it isn't one of the 'premium' channels you have to pay extra for.

Since when does Comcast have contracts as opposed to month to month?

Everything is now a "package". You can still order a la carte, I believe, but it is WAY more expensive than the packages.

We actually just got rid of ours and did exactly that. Well, not rabbit ears, but our house came with an antenna installed the attic.. I finallu hooked it up, and we actually get quite a few channels. The digital ones look good too, much better than I was expecting.

PBS for the kids, locals for sports, and have Hulu/netflix streaming in both living rooms more than meet our needs.

It might not be great for people who watch alot of TV, but it saved us $80 a month and no-one even misses it. I think we have just had cable/satalite for so long, we didn't realize how little we actually use it.

Comcast is out for Internet too, as soon as FIOS is available..

I have Verizon's $100 package for TV/internet/phone. Actually might be a few bucks more because I got the HDs and a couple DVRs also. Still only a little bit more than we were paying for just Dish.

I gave up cable in August, had a few quasi-relapse moments, and haven't looked back since.

Fuck cable tv. It's such a waste of time.

Brighthouse did something a little like this to me. I signed up and they installed and the guy said I'd get all the premium channels free for a month (I never signed up for these channels). I thought this was just a promotion they did to try and get new users and then get them hooked on HBO, Show, Cin... After a month and a few days I realize I still have these channels. It turns out they tried to pull a FreeCreditReport.com on me and just roll me over into the service without advising me of anything.

The lady I spoke with was really helpful though and got everything resolved :)

fta receivers work with dishnetwork dishes, but i'd hold off on it. right now is not a good time to get into it.
