Comcast sucks

Yesterday my dad called and said he has no internet connection and can't send photos for the building inspections he does. I figured it was just his computer finally giving up, so I found a SFF P4 system on Craigslist and bought it, then went to my parents' to set it up. First thing when I ran Explorer was some installer to download for Comcast. What ISP today has an installer? RR didn't and my U-Verse doesn't. Well, I figured it was necessary to agree to a new EULA or whatever with the switchover from Time Warner.

I ran it and it gave me an error and a number to call. I called it, and after 15 minutes on hold, the support lady said she was transferring me to sales, because there was no account for that phone number. WTF! I pay for my parents' internet and TV, and I have a bill right here showing: Comcast High Speed Internet 31.00, due by 7/17/07. How in the hell is this possible? I told them I'm cancelling service, and getting DSL instead. After months of great service from Time Warner Comcast has gone and screwed stuff up for no apparent reason.

Think thats bad, I pay $65 a month for sub 56k wireless. During the evenings it cuts out every 3-5 minutes for a minute.

Why not just use dialup then?

lol, yup 😛 Its the only ISP here. There are free computers with broken keyboards/mice, loaded with viruses and IE crashes with an even shakier connection.

Bummer.

Comcast isn't that bad, I've used them for many years.

You do not need any software installed on your computer at all.

You just have to activate your modem the first time (which can be done by just calling them or using the sw) and once thats done you can use without any software.

I hook mine up to my Linksys WRT 54G and don't even have to set any PPOE settings in my router.

Usually when you first have the modem installed, you can just ask the tech to activate the modem without using the software.

I've used them all over also, I'm using them in Atlanta, GA area currently and was previously using them in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

Their service seems to be pretty consistent IMO, of course I never call them for anything though.

I've used Comcast for 9 years now. I'm happy. I've used it for another year in college and I'm very happy. I've used DSL for a year and I can say it's crap. When they finally upgraded speeds, I guess it's now slightly worth it, but Comcast all the way. I want my TV. I don't want ***** phone service.

Good to know the military is on top of things with computer technology. 😕
