comcast SMTP server

I have been trying to use Outlook express with my comcast service as the SPTP server. I set the SMTP server as SMTP.comcast.net. For some reason the mail client just cant seem to be ablt to send messages. IS anyone else having this problem too??

make sure the "SMTP" is not uppercase. So it should say "smtp.comcast.net"
also, can you ping it?
if so, can you use Telnet to get into the mail server? If not, call tech support and ask about outages or help.

well I unistalled Norton system works and now it works just fine. This is really strange. SOmehow the norton antivirus which scans mails b4 sending it away was blocking it. I also checked that I have noviruses on my computer.
