Comcast shows pr0n instead of superbowl?

Looking for more info on this. A relative called and said there was a brief moment where they were watching the superbowl on Comcast and it cut out to some show with two people laying in bed, and then a guy gets up and he's completely naked, wang and all. This was in Tucson. Guess it was mentioned on the news here also. That's pretty funny 😛 - Especially since my Grandma was watching. There's going to be an uproar tonight I have a feeling, at least locally.

and I thought DirecTV was screwing up the broadcast - During the Barack Obama interview a lot of audio didn't get picked up and picture froze a couple times. During the Superbowl there was a couple times where it froze up as well (late second quarter I believe). Not sure if it was DirecTV or NBC at fault though.

I watched it OTA, and noticed a lot of problems during the Obama interview. It didn't freeze, but the audio went out a few times.

Your grandfather accidentally sat on the remote and switched to the TV's DVD input. Fortunately he switched it back before anyone realized he did it.

Obama interview was during the pregame. and it was NBC. Al Michaels noted it. and if you listen closely you can here some production person voice saying "did we lose it" when teh audio went out.

which is why you never use cuss words when you're within range of a mic. imagine if the guy was like 'oh fuck me, we lost the god damn feed from the PRESIDENT! what the FUCK!?'

haha

LOL, it's like the nate/level thread - it just NEVER ENDS.

Edit - well damn, I guess I should have quoted while I could. 😛

Nothing. Comcast is not an OTA broadcaster.

the FCC has power to regulate and enforce provisions over ALL communications and transmissions, including those over cable or satellite.

Which is why we hear about them fining Comedy Central every time they run something like South Park...

Not that I'm calling you out, but are you sure that the FCC has the power to regulate the content on a private cable system? The FCC gets to regulate OTA because it's using limited, licensed spectrum put to use in the public interest. They get to regulate certain technical standards for cable in the interest of competition. But at no point do they get to regulate the content of those cable systems - that's not something they're allowed to do.

Exactly. They only have a limited amount of authority over OTA content under the theory that "public airwaves" are involved and that the content is readily available to anyone with receiving equipment. There is currently a case working it's way up through the courts that will likely exapnd or limit this authority even further as regards OTA content.
