Comcast Self Install Kit

I just got my Kit yesterday, set everything up and it all seems to work. During the software install it wouldn't ping anything for testin, so i just have a "RAW Connection" I accidently gave Comcast the wrong SN and MAC info the first time i called (2 sets on the modem), got that straightened out tho. Now i'm just sittin here with this "RAW" connection and my Cable modem blinking. Am i just waitin for them to activate it or something? I called again today to check up on it and gave my numbers again, but still nothin. I realize this could take some time, but how long should i wait before i call a Tech dude to visit? Or should i just sit back, relax and watch it blink away 🙂

I must have it hooked up right if i have this RAW Connectivity, correct?

I'm not sure I understand what the question is. Are you saying that you have everything hooked up, but you still have no Internet connection? Are you asking whether or not you should contact Comcast in order to get an Internet connection?

I'm just curious if this is normal, i've never had broadband before so i'm kinda lost here. As i mentioned i do have a connection with it, but it's useless. The IP that the connection should have isn't even correct according to them, but i guess that'll change once they do something on thier end. I guess it's just a waiting game, although i don't know why it takes so long if it's just a matter of them entering a few numbers/letters

Do you have an assigned IP address or is it given to you dynamically?

Once everything is configured for broadband, then it should all work. Assuming your machine is configured correctly (is this a good assumption), then there is really very little you can do to get things working. About the only thing you can do is reboot the cable modem (shut your machine down first and then turn it on after the cable modem reboots).

Are you plugging the cable modem into your machine directly or into a router?

Sounds like you gave them one set of numbers, that didn't work, you realized that there was another set and gave those to them. If this is correct, it may take them awhile to use the new numbers. It might take a couple days.
