So, your telling me the tv with the cable cord hooked up from the splitter is useless now :( My free basic cable days are over D: and yes we pay for 2 digital cable boxes.

Our latest network enhancement is almost complete. Which
means you'll have to order digital equipment for each TV in your
home that isn't connected to a digital set-top box or CableCARD.
This ensures that you keep all your current channels.

Depending on your current level of service, you can receive one
digital set-top box and up to two digital adapters at no additional
monthly service charge.

Yep. Digital now, need a box. But think of how comcastic all your new HD channels and higher broadband speed bring! Look at the bright side of this.

They'll give you 2 basic non-HD cable boxes for free, what's the big deal? Also there's the QAM channels which don't require a cable box at all.

Comcast near me got rid of all the analog channels months ago now. They ramped up my internet speed to 20mbps last month. I'm quite happy with them.

Well, from my understanding. They only give you the free box if you pay for a line of basic cable lol.

I keep wondering...
Comcast is advertising how their xfinity service is great for downloading/streaming. But they throttle you if you download much.

Nope. All digital. That analog took up TONS of bandwidth/frequency. Most all cable providers are moving to all digital, comcast is just leading the way to better services, faster broadband speeds and more HD. It's truly incredibly comcastic.

Leading the way while failing to maintain their physical plant though. The tech side is neat, but that company needs some better management. Even dealing with business support was a nightmare.

it's so comcraptic that they advertise all channels 1-99 in the digital starter package, but then move espn classic (ch 29) to the sports package, requiring you to pay extra $6 a month to get that channel (along with other sports channels). I dont give a crap about the sports channels but it just so happens that ESPN is airing all the daily WC games on ESPNCSL at night. I just wanna watch the WC games dammit.

If they advertise ALL channels 1-99 in a package, I should get ALL the channels in that range, no matter what other package this channel belongs to. Fucking comcraptic indeed

So pay for the package.

See how supply and demand works?

one of the boxes is free no matter what. It VERY basic (and cheaply made) and only has coax cable out. .....and if you have HD, you only pay for one HD box and the rest are free.

had a brain fart, did you?
I already pay for the package. It's called the digital starter package which includes ALL channels in 1-99 and their equivalent HD channels. But apparently according to comcrap, 29 doesn't belong in the 1-99 range.

You don't see me bitching about not getting science channel in HD since the science channels is part of the digital expanded package which I dont pay for. I want to get what I'm paying for, and for what they advertised.

Like I said, comcraptic indeed.

Nope, it's free for any TV service they offer, even the 20 channel option. I think they were forced to do it because govt told them so.

are you sure about that? I have one HD box in the living room now, and have one of those free digital boxes in the bedroom. The digital box doesn't put out HD signal, and last I checked, they told me I'd have to pay for an extra HD box if I want HD in the bedroom also

yeah, they sent out a letter saying that you only pay for the one box. The rest of the boxes are free AS ALONG AS IT IS ON THE SAME OUTLET. Same outlet is not defined internally, but externally. In other words, if all outlets are made from the same splitted signal, you are golden. I will see if I can find the letter.....remember, everything is different by area....

edit...

Looks like the comcast guy explained it to me wrong. He said all HD boxes, but the letter I got says HD box *upgrade*....I could have sworn that they said it was free, but it would not be the first time they lied to me.
