Comcast Needs to Die

Alright, so when I lived in Knoxville I had signed up for Comcast and had them automatically deduct my bill from my checking account each month (big mistake). I moved back to Nashville in August, and as such, cancelled my Comcast account. I dropped off all the equipment and told them to make sure to stop the automatic withdrawl. Next month, they still took it out. I called them and they said they would take care of it right away. This continues every month to this day. I don't live in that damn city, and I don't even have Comcast anymore. How the fvck do I get them to stop taking my damn money?

Did you, perhaps, sign a year-long contract with ComCast? If you did, then you're totally FUBARed.

Nope. Even if I had, it's been 3 years since I signed up with them.

Automatic account deductions are for noobs.

They'll get my freakin' bill when I throw a stamp on it and stick it in the mail.

That's why you should never ever ever ever ever ever setup automatic deductions from a checking account.

Personally, I'd just close the account and open a new one. It'd be much easier.

Good idea. Don't know wtf I didn't think of that.

Why can't your bank stop the automatic withdrawals without you having to open a new account?

I know at my credit union there is a fee to put that kind of stop pay into effect.

I have an issue where Comcast in Arlington, TX has been getting steadily worse. Last time I ran a traceroute I had 30% dropped packets :-\ I call Comcast and they schedule a guy to come out...so I take the day off. So the tech calls me before coming over and I explain the issue and I get an answer of "uhh there's no reason for me to come out if the issue is intermittent." Well gee thanks for wasting my day. Even though I have this issue still after a year, I am still going to miss the 5 megabit connection when I have to go to 1 megabit *moving to a small town next week* with cebridge.

Call the local cable commisioners office in Knoxville and explain to them what Comcrap is doing. They will correct the problem and see to it that you get your money back.

or contact the states puc. You tried to correct the problem with comcast by going thru comcast. Now is the time to make the government aware of the scam that comcast is pulling.

I'd take it up with the bank so you:

1. Get any money they stole back.
2. Avoid any possible credit glitches if they still think you owe them and send it to a collection agency

Exactly, i know someone who wanted HDTV locals with comcast. He ordered the box they only told him it was $5 a month. His bills comes and he says they are charging him $15 aparently they thought it would be cool to add $10 for digital cable service. He tells them to cancel the digital cable and let him keep the box. They said no if he cancels the digital service he needs to return the box as well. They kept lying to him that he needed to have digital cable to get HDTV. He knew this was a lie, so 2-3 times a month for around 7 months he would call and ask them to stop charging him for digital. He finally got sick and tired of them scaming him like this. Called the local cable commisioners office, in 2 weeks he gets an appology from a manager and a refund for months he paid digital cable.

Believe me comcast won't correct a billing mistake if they are getting money from it unless threaten with fines.

On a side note, I got my Comcast bill the other day and it included their annual list of all the available services and fees.

It's very confusing to try and figure out if package A is included with service B or if service C is required for package D, etc.

Confusion makes it easier for them to scam you. If it was easy to figure out how much your supose to be charge it makes it harder for them to lie and charge you for services not being rendered.
