I've got Comcast Digital Cable here in Princeton, NJ, and it's decent and all, but why the hell are the menus so slow, and why does it take upwards of three seconds to change the channel up or down? I recently visited a relative in NYC, and they have digital cable there (though I can't remember the company, damn), and everything was much faster, much like normal cable. Is my friggin' box broken or does Comcast just plain ol' suck?

I've heard of this problem depending on the box that they gave you...some have the prob, some don't.

Yeah, I get the same problem and I hate it. I also hate how narrow their remote ray is. You have to litterally aim it exactly at the receiver to change the channels.

This is the exact reason I stuck with analog cable for years after digital became available. The Comcast digital system/cable box is @ss slow. I finally caved in and now have digital cable. Our other TV has a HD cable box and it's MUCH faster browsing through the menus, although still slower than analog cable boxes.

I think the best you can do for now is have Comcast upgrade your box to the HD-ready version which is about $1.75 per month more than the standard box.

Yea my comcast box was super slow. When I got my replaytv box and more excited to have a channel guide that worked at reasonable speed than I was to have a PVR.

I live 20mins from Princeton, same prob. However, one of my friends that got Comcast cable in WW the past 8 months seems to work a lot more smoothly, the way it seems it should be. I'm wondering if this could somehow qualify as a tech problem where they could update your box somehow, or replace it...

Any Comcast techies on AT?

mines the same way. I have a black Motorola standard-def set top box from comcast. The silver Moto hooked up to the HDTV is a bit faster. What is the maker of your set top box?
