Quick question - is it possible to get both DIRECTV & Comcast over the same lines? I have 2 lines going in and the DTV splitters allow an ANTENNA in -> 2 cable lines -> 4 way out splitter with ANTENNA OUT.

Thanks in advance.

If you read the rebate form they send you the 150$ via check in 8-10 weeks and if you cancel before six months you owe them that full rebate......So really you dont have to wait 6 months.
Yep, sorry for any misunderstanding.

You can send the rebate off with your first bill and actually get the rebate check before the end of the promotional period, but if you cancel before the six month promotion is complete, Staples might try to collect the $150 back from you.
Btw, do you get newsgroup access with Comcast?
I can only comment on the Comcast service my sister has on the other side of town. Included is a free subscription to GigaNews with 1GB/month download limit. Upload limit is something like 200MB. Not much if you want to download files, but plenty if you want the discussions primarily.

You can upgrade to any of the GigaNews service levels at a discounted price, but its not a huge discount. I think the 10GB/month service is $9.99 if you subscribe to Comcast instead of $11.99 standard price.

Once you activate the Giganews account, you don't have to use the Comcast-Giganews server, which may or may not be slower. I used the main Giganews NNTP server and it authenticates her account.

The "free", old ATTBI newsgroups are still around - netnews.comcast.net. Their retention rate is horrible for alt.binaries.*, and IIRC, they throttle port 119. Prior to the throttling, I could get around 400 KB/s sustained with 4 open connections.

Got the new Comcast service running through the Toshiba PCX2600 DOCSIS2.0 modem I ordered from CNETPC.com for $54.00 delivered. Zoom zoom! HAPPY DAY!

The downside being, I'll probably have to go back to dial-up when we move because there is no broadband available in that area yet, unless satellite internet should get a lot cheaper by then. Going from 3Mbit back to 56Kbit will probably make me want to fling myself into the path of an oncoming truck (figuratively...almost).

Looks like deal has cooled down. Rebate is down to $105 and I don't see any $19.99 intro pricing. :(

Dreaming of a device... Dude, i hate the cables scrolling up the front of my house and dread having another one run. When is Comcast or Verizon going to come out with a device that will allow you to wirelessly transmit your television signal from a single in-home box as you do with your internet? That would be worth paying for.

I still see the 19.99 pricing for 6 months available.

For those of you who already signed up, did you get your rebate already?

I received my rebate last week after only 1.5-2 months. If you cancel before the 6 months, they will hound you for the rebate back.

I must be one of the few ATers to get my rebate from the Dell Broadband offer... I signed up back in about February I believe, 6 months of Earthlink Cable Internet for 29.99/month, no contract, $100 rebated from Dell. Got my $100 rebate, probably got lucky knowing that Dell is hell...

If you're not on contract, just call up Comcast and threaten to cancel your service. They'll throw all sorts of crazy stuff at you to keep you as a customer. If they don't, hang up and try again.
