FINALLY, high speed internet affordable again!

Comcast High Speed Internet
$29.99 a month for 12 months - no contract (really)
free installation
includes modem
highest speed available too (per customer rep)
- so far, i got 673 kb/s max download on iE without DLmgr's
applies to NON-cable subscribers only

not sure if it's advertised yet as promotion just started. ASK for it ~

okay, ANSWERS to your quetions:

yes, you can get this even if you are already signed up (provided you were not signed on any contracts). you can't be under more than 1 promotion.

again, this is not an annual contract, meaning no cancellation fees. it's a promotion, saying it's 29.99 for at least a year.

promotion started in the last couple of days or so. i discovered by phone. if you don't see it advertised... it's simply not advertised yet. ASK for it when you call ~

unfortunately, NOT nationwide. i'm in the bay area.

i've been paying that for 3 years.
you might want to consider signing up for annual contract if that's what they are offering.
it's locked in forever. 😉

where did u see this promotion? my 6month $20/month is about to end and would like to renew. my roommate and i usually switch places since u cant be on 2 promotions @ one time.

I'd like to know as well. I just signed up for Comcast cable a few months and it's about to go to $42/month once my $20/3month promotion ends.

Where did you find this information as I have Comcast HS internet and loged on there site to get price quote and got $42.99. Man that would be a sweet deal.

I would like to know some more details too. I am an existing customer and my promotional period just got over in Jan and I am back to paying $43 for internet and $10 for cable (without cable internet alone would be $57)

We need more details please OP.

How did you hear about it ?
Is this a local, regional or nationwide promo ?
Where are you located ?

Here in PA, Comcast Internet is $42.95/month with cable-tv service and a few bucks more without.

The Comcast download speed here was recently doubled (~3 MBps)

On a sidenote, Verizon DSL has been advertising a rate of $29.95 per month on a recent TV commercial but they have fine print at the bottom
of the screen for a couple seconds that states you must have their local, regional and long distance carriers to get the above price. I think
the commercial is very misleading.

Yeah, this is no good without details.

I pay $57.95 a month for internet access (no cable TV) through comcast... I think it's $42.95 with cable.

It's 42.95/57.95 here in Baltimore too, but my broke-ass grad student self is stuck with 34/month DSL. If this deal is good I'm in!

It could be a very hot deal...good alternative (in terms of pricing) to DSL.

Well all, the OP did say:
not sure if it's advertised yet as promotion just started. ASK for it ~
Won't hurt if you call and ask if it's available in your area.

I don't know if the deals can be combined or not, but DELL is offering a $75 rebate if you sign on with Comcast through them.

See $75 mail-in rebate from Dell

I haven't really looked into it since I am too far out in the sticks to get ANY kind of high speed access other than satellite, but I remembered seeing something about this a few days ago whilst looking for 2-way satellite deals.

Worth looking into if you are considering Comcast...

I'm paying 58.06 right now. Just called them and the guy told me that they don't have a promotional plan of that sort, and i can't do a annual contract either. Damn Sacramento Comcast. It's a rip-off. I think i should go SBC DSL since it's cheaper and they just upgraded the speed on those right?

I'm guessing it's only a 12 month promotion, meaning after 12 months you'll be paying the going rate ---> $42.95/$57.95 per month.

This deal is to hook you into their service for life.

Think about it - the wireless phone providers will give you a free phone if you sign a one year contract. They're hoping you remain with them.

It's still a good deal if you were considering going with Comcast in the first place. 🙂

sweet! im in the bay area and my 20$/6months ended in january. would be nice to easily switch over to this promotion now.

thanks!

I need this badly because I've been paying $42.95 for a little over two years. But I read the Sacramento area Comcast does not offer this plan, which sucks of course. And, I can't get SBC DSL either because it's not available in my area, so it looks like I'm stuck.

what DSL providers are available in your area? if there's no competition, i doubt comcast will lower its prices.

oh freakin great just when I sign up for DSL that lets me download at a measly 70KB/s 🙁

anyone know of a way to weasle out of my 1 year sbc contract?

midiman: yes, if you drop your cable tv, comcast will increase your cable internet bill. it's cheaper to go for the federally required minimum-cost plan, which is $8 in md, and add that to the $43 you're currently paying; you end up saving $3.
