Comcast Email Issues

I have a friend on comcast who has randomly missing emails. He doesn't get a bounceback error or anything. For example, he recently sent on email to three people, two also being comcast subscribers, and none of them received the email.

I'm not sure what to recommend to him to do, except to call Comcast and complain. It seems highly irregular that comcast couldn't access its own mail servers. I can see some isp blocking comcast, but he has had the problem with several isp's.

Thanks for your help!

Are the other users running 3rd party spam software, any chance something in the message triggered it?

Ok, I'll check and see if it might have triggered spam filters. If not calling Comcast sounds like a good bet. Is this a common problem? It doesn't seem to me that the tech support on the line is going to be able to do much about this problem.
My friend was wondering if it possible to trace what servers the email went to. He said he thought someone showed him to do this once. I believe that when you get a bounceback message it says some info like this, maybe that's what he was thinking of?
Thanks again!

Is he using a POP3 account through outlook or express or is he using comcast's webmail.

Comcast recently switched all of their mail servers over from a third party to in-house servers and during that time i heard a lot of my customer's complaining about missing email's.

Also, if he is using a POP3 account with outlook or express, make sure he changes his outgoing server port in the mail settings to 587. The incoming leave normal.

I read your post here and then went to the Comcast site to verify and in confirmation, they're saying port 587 also. Mine still works at 25, but wont at 587. What's up with that?

I was just thinking that I've got my router locked down pretty tight which may be why 587 won't work. I'll look into that. Edit: It was my router settings.

So how come 25 still works?

He is using outlook express pop3. It was set to 25. I tried changing to 587 and it didn't work at all. He discovered that it was only one instance. The others it turned out they were gone. It was around the end of October that he sent the email.

This is why I switched to GMail - much more reliable, much easier, much faster, available from any internet connection, POP availability with HTTPS...

And if I switch ISPs, nobody cares.
