Asshole Brown.:D wonder is Sherwin Williams has that color?

Comcast, the mammoth U.S. cable company, was reportedly forced to issue an apology Wednesday after someone at the company changed a customer's name on a bill from Ricardo to "A—hole."
Lisa Brown, who lives in Spokane, Wash., said she was shocked when she first saw the bill with her husband Ricardo's name changed. She contacted a consumer advocate blog called Elliot.org and provided it with a copy of the billing statement.
When asked what may have led to the derogatory name, Brown theorized that it could have stemmed from a recent phone call she had with the company's customer service.
Brown, a two-year customer of Comcast, explained that her family was in a tight financial spot. She called to inquire about how she could cut down her monthly bill. Brown told the blog that instead of assisting her, the representative passed her on to a retention specialist who promptly tried to keep her at her current bill and, on top of that, get her to sign a two-year contract.
"It could have been that person was upset because I didn't take the offer," she said.
Comcast, which has been criticized in the past over its customer service, was reportedly quick to respond to the issue. A senior representative said the company will investigate the issue and fire the person responsible for the name-change.
"We have zero tolerance for this type of disrespectful behavior and are conducting a thorough investigation," Steve Kipp, a vice president, told the blog.
Brown told the blog that Comcast has since called her and offered a full two-year refund.

Wow, 2 year full refund for calling somebody an asshole, Im sorry, but thats quite an overreaction. Putting your name in the computer as "asshole" is funny, and really in the grand scheme of things, its so trivial and inconsequential.

There are a thousand reasons to hate Comcast, Asshole Brown is not one of them.

Not the first time this has happened. Back in 2005 a comcrap rep changed someone's name on their account to Bitch Dog.

I get calls all the time where TWC wants me to sign up for TV & phone. I tell them I can't afford it (I can, but, it is a waste of money, since I don't use a phone nor watch TV) and then they proceed on telling me how much of a great deal it is.

It has gotten to the point where I when I answer the phone (on my mobile) and confirm it's them, I just keep saying; "Hello? Hello? Helloooo???" I can hear them perfectly fine, but they clearly aren't listening to me,.. so, I pretend not to hear them.

:)

TWC is also notorious for sending out "offers" that were not aligned with their customer service people; http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/time-warner-cable-free-tablet-upgrade/

Anyway,.. they (cable companies) don't give a flying fuck. And, when asked to give a flying fuck, YOU are the bad person.

They have enough negative publicity lately that they probably feel they need to overcompensate to shed that image.

I feel for the guy who did this.

...knowing that he's probably out of a job now because of a momentary lapse in judgement. Was he having a bad day? Under pressure to retain more customers?

It's a little amusing how in the news and popular opinion (see above) this was "Comcast" that did this rather than just some underpaid cubicle-drone.

... But it was Comcast. If this poor fella was under pressure to retain customers, then it is commiecast's shit policy and customer service training that are responsible.

But Comcast makes it seem like he did this on his own, in which case we shouldn't feel bad. If you're retarded enough to change a customer's name to Asshole on a bill (which is permanent proof)... you deserve to be fired.

Didn't Rude work for comcast?

Nope, Charter.

The system they use is very similar to what we used though. It logs every single account you touch and the monitoring software they use records your screen. So it wouldn't be hard for Comcast to go through and find when the account was touched, then reference the monitoring to see who made the change.

But then again, the rep who made the change might not be on 100% monitoring. So its possible he got away with it. If its not recorded, it never happened.

If he's in "retention" then that's his job. Of course he's under pressure to retain customers. That's a "shit policy"?? That makes no sense.

I don't think 2 years free service is a shit drop in the bucket for comcast. How much does it really cost for them to push a signal out to your house.

If someone did this to me i would have notified comcast first and ask them what they wanted to do before I post this on reddit and everyplace else. I would negotiate something like 5 years and $500.00, or it's going on reddit, ebaums, and every other f----- board.

From what I've read, the customer was refunded their past two years' payments and will receive the next two for free. Four years of cable service isn't bad compensation for what is pretty much a harmless slight.

A lot.

Internet not so much, that's basically free. But they have to pay for each network sent to your house whether you watch it or not. TV isn't cheap for anyone.

Haha right in my own backyard too. I've been hanging up on the Comcast rep that keeps calling me about adding services. Maybe I should egg her on to try and get 2 free years of service.

In the heat of the moment I'd probably be pissed if they called me an asshole. I wouldn't get bent out of shape over this getting the bill a couple of weeks later. Pretty damn funny.

I would probably milk a free month off of them for having to call them to get it changed back, though :D

Kudos to the representative for going out with a bang.
