I'm moving so I called ComCast to set up my new cable. They said they have a promotion going. 6 months of cable internet for $19.95 a month. That's a good deal. I'm in San Francisco. I can finally get rid of that phone line.

I am currently an existing attbi (switching to comcast) and am going to be moving in a few weeks.
Is it possible for me to get on this deal even though I am an existing customer?

existing customers are getting screwed. they're going to up the price by $15. i'm currently paying $46 and it's going to be $51 after the hike. i've been getting a lot of calls to subscribe to basic cable so that the price hike isn't as bad.

yeah, i have been an existing comcast cable subscriber for 3 years.

i called them up last week, and said to transfer me to the retention department. i then told the person i am going to switch to WOW (wide open west) service... so the csr says "okay , i can give you 6 months for $19.99"

i said okay!

best of luck.

I have cable internet, but satellite dish for TV. Someone told me that they cannot stop basic cable from coming in if you have cable internet. Anyone know if this is true? I am not going to drop my dish because of it, but was just wondering.

That is $15?

They are increasing the price 3 dollars here but giving the 256k upload increase thinking we won't notice the price.

Yes they can stop it if they install a filter. I was lucky and they didn't install one on my cable. :)

Cox has 3 levels of internet service (Las Vegas).

The cheapest level is 128K up and down stream. Normal price is $29.99/ month with cable service - $5 more without
Next is still 128K up with a much faster down stream rate. Price is an additional $10/month.
Top tier is the high speed up and down for $59.99/month.

Make sure what speed they are giving you on the teaser.

Its more if you don't subscribe to their cable services as well I suppose.

Also, make sure to check out your local BB or CC sales on modems. You may be able to use this together with one of those activation sales to get a nice Motorola or Toshiba modem for free AR. Beats the crappy modem they give you and you won't pay a monthly rental fee.

The strange thing about Comcast is that internet w/out tv is $61 and internet w/ tv is $46. Basic cable is only $12.50. Do the math people. Ok I'll do it for you, if you sign up for basic cable w/ the internet you save $2.50.

$19.95 for 6 months is an awesome deal.

How do you get this price? I went to the website and it said $39.95. I'm in Connecticut.

Yeah, I noticed it's not on the website. They just offered it to me when I was signing up for cable TV. Try calling. I also notice they have commercials about it.

My local company just upped the "low end" package only rates (citing "increased costs", yet no other package increased)

Was $34.99, now $39.99 for 500kbit (fully throttled, can;t go over) (1mbit is still $44.99, 2mbit is still $59.99) Plus $10 if you're not a cable subscriber, plus $5 for rental, plus about 6.5% in taxes/franchise fees.

So I paid $53.50 and now will pay $59.00 total for the BASIC package, since I have DishNetwork and refuse to give up $29 a month for 100 digital channels in option for $45 a month PLUS $8 digital cable box to get the same channels on cable just to save a $10 fee on cable modem. I think NOT!

A friend in another city pays $30 a month for theirs and it's 800kbit unthrottled... they guarentee 800 but if there is bandwidth, you get as much as is available, most often his runs at 2.5 mbit! :(

Does this require one year committment?

I have verizon DSL for past 3 years but thinking of changing to Cable. I live in NJ so it will be hot if I can get Comcast for $19.95 without 1-year committment

I tried to research this deal in Chicago. It seems that they are not offering this 19.99 deal. Here's the reply I got from the Concast Customer Care:

Thank you for writing to Comcast.

Thank you, for your interest in the Comcast High Speed Internet, the service is currently available to you. The current promotion is $19.99
for the first 3 months with the installation charge being $24.95. The Tech, would need to install a separate line for the computer and will be installing a external modem, the modem charge will be an additional $3.00 monthly, if you are providing your own modem the retail cost once the promotion has expired will be $42.95 w/your own modem, or $45.95 w/Comcast modem. If, your ready to order contact our Chicago Customer Care toll free number 1-866-594-1234, any further questions can be handled by this department.

Thank you again for contacting Comcast.

i'm interested in trying out your High Speed Internet. I heard that you currently have an offer going on for new customers: 19.99 for first 6 months. If that is true can you please contact me and let me know about your intallation procedures?

Thanks

They told me they don't have contracts. So it's month to month.
