I just reset my modem and got 6 Mbps. I'm on the lowest Comcast net service. Originally it was 1.5 Mbps. Previous 6 Mbps customers got boosted to 8 Mbps. I had 4 Mbps before and 3 before that, and finally 1.5 Mbps first.

I knew someone from NJ who had Optimum Online for $30/month that could get 2 megaBYTES per second.

Try this for flavor.

Pay attention to quality of service. If it's real low and your download speed starts way over 6.6 or 8.8 Mbps depending on your tier traffic shaping is not enabled on your head end. Bursting can go as high as 20Mbps however with traffic shaping you will have a nice 8.8 Mbps sustained if you're a gold tier subscriber.

Of course this ASSumes you're not in an oversubscribed area or going through one of those pesky overloaded routers.

As always your (s)mileage will vary. Have FUN and stay high and dry tonight.

Wow, I just pay for the basic broadband and these were my results for comcast:

Last Result:
Download Speed: 6147 kbps (768.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 358 kbps (44.8 KB/sec transfer rate)

My download has doubled since I last checked. Thats pretty sweet. :)

I got 6871 down, 353 up.

Hmm, but resetting the modem did help, so I thank whoever (too lazy) that gave me the idea.
Thx :D
