Combine FS/FT and WTB into one category again?

I was hoping a vote for this would pop up.
I don't do alot of buying/trading much anymore,but the last few times i have, i've got no replies at all being in the WTB section.

It was much better when they were combined imo.

HA!!! Its just as I said before it got torn apart. there are jsut too many times when combined I go "OH DAMN, hes got, or looking for...." When I was in there for something else. Not to mention I have sold and traded some of my stuff because of the same thing with other people looking for XXX and came across what I was trading or wanted, and made a deal.

Now its been switched I completely forget the want/trade section is even there, been in there maybe 2 times if that, and find it more a pita having to go from one another to get what I want, therefore since im lazy, just like the next guy, I dont want to have to click and go searching through yet another section when I can go to ars and see it all in one place. WHICH BTW I have spent more time at now since the switch and have had more sales there as well after the switch. Since the switch also ars has been moving so that alone should say this was a bad idea because it used to be Id post something at ars last. I now do it first because it is moving at a huge clip after the switch here which means you lost a lot of members because of this.

The ones who say no to this are the ones who look for something 1-2 times a month. I have 10,000 post mainly because 75% of that is all doing deals for I am a deal hog and love to get me a good price on anything. This was a bad idea to switch it out for those of us here who are the same like me, which seeing the pole is about 75% of us who would come here and make a listing and fart around in the other sections. Now I fart around much less because I have no reason to stay since I cant do deals as much anymore, and dont need to be here almost all the time to respond to pm's and replies. ID really like to know how much traffic has been lost since the switch. Im going to guess its about 75% less along all sections

Now if you will excuse me, I need to go back to ars and make my Wanted thread there.
LMK ASAP if this goes back and Ill make one here too, and maybe start posting here first again

The poll was made to check the general concensus of the forum users. I believe for the time being we are going to leave it as is because in my opinion a 3:2 vote does not justify making the change.

Have you posted this pole elsewhere so the members who have left because of the change, or like me now only check in every now and then, have a chance to vote and show there is more then a 3:2 split?

You really should maybe contact a mod at ars and see that not long after this was done their members have grown, and their fs/ft forum has gotten a ton more traffic. It used to be my thread there would take several days before hitting the 2nd page, but now it seems it can take just a few hours. It would seem to me that alot of other members like me who would always be checking the fs/ft and elsewhere because this was the best place for the best FS/FT forum then anywhere else on the net, would check out and participate in all the other forums because there was no reason to stray off anywhere else, not to mention all the clicking on advertisement that pays for the site, have in fact not come in as often, and have found other places to go. I would think that more members mean more advertising revenue and you would want to cater to the ones who pay the bills, no matter how "small" the percentage would be on a bias poll that kinda hidden and doesn't ask the members who left, or dont hardly check in as often because of the split, a chance to post what they feel as well vs the ones who dont go into the fs/ft section and like it the way it is because all they ever did was scroll though the pages once a while and want it smaller so they dont have to scroll so far while neffing at work.

I mean even sales for me I know has dropped as well because of this too. Id post something up and within a few hours, or minutes, would have pm's or replies. Now I post something here I have to wait days sometimes, yet stuff over at ars is generating replies and sales which was really the other way around before the split.

But anyway, thats my 2 cents from a guy who actually loved this site for it had it all in one place, and because they were together I have bought more, traded more, and sold more because I had one place to go that would allow me to see stuff for trade or wanted that would never of crossed my mind had it not all been in one place. And the same goes in reverse for stuff I have sold because other members saw it and didnt think of it at the time, that what i had to offer was out there had the 2 sections not been together.

The poll itself has been open for nearly 2 months and I have no plans to close it. However, as I said, at the time we do not plan on making any changes, but we are still open to hear the members' opinions and suggestions.

All I can say is I already made a trade off it again because I saw something I was not in the fs/ft looking for, NOR would I ever thought to click over into another section to look for it, because it never would of crossed my mind had I not seen it in one place.

Its not about being lazy and clicking over to another link, its about it all in one place giving you a higher chance that someone would find your thread, where they wouldnt of if it were somewhere else if a seller, and as a buyer to see something that at the time that would of never crossed your mind you could of traded for.

Just deal with it, and the very day you come across something that says WTB or FT and you were not looking for it, AT ALL, then make a deal and buy it, or even sell it, then you will go "Damn you funboy, your right again."

No funboy, you're wrong. Having an exclusive WTB/WTTF section is better than having to search the combined FS/FT for WTB first, then WTT, then WTTF, and having to sift through a bunch of threads without any of those in their titles.

Again I say, as a seller or trader, how could you not be inclined to look in the Want to Sell, etc. forum? Laziness.

no your wrong. The search should be fixed as one had mentioned so you can put in FT XXX, wtb XXX, FS XXX.

I say what I did because 90% of my posts were from posting in the fs/ft section buying and selling, and there have been NUMEROUS times I have bought and sold something because it was in one spot and I never in a million years would of "searched" or thought to look for something, and I have had many buyers and traders tell me the same thing that they were looking for something and stumbled into my thread. Had it been in dedicated spot I would never of sold, NOR BOUGHT most the things I have in the last 7 years.

As I said a little above that because of the switch I made yet another trade for something that I was not looking for, but because they merged the two back together.

IF searching is how you use it then they should fix that asap so that you can put in the title WTB WTS FS WTB then what your looking for, because as it sits I personally dont use the search function hardly at all and just surf through the pages for most of what anyone is looking for can be found within the first page or two without having to search for it so searching for one item is not my thing.

But if again if the search is your thing, if and when they can do the adding of title to limit your searches, you will be happy they are together for I am sure one day you will be flipping through and go, HUH thats cool, never thought of buying, trading for, or getting that.

The problem is not the merge, its the search for those of you who just use the forum to look for one thing only at a particular time. Thats the REAL problem.

MODS fix the search, fix the bitching, fix the problem, and all will be right with the world and the members

And really if you think of it the search really isnt broken, because if you put WTB or what ever, like WTB HDD it lists you every thread with FS or WTB with a hard drive in the thread opening your choices to those also looking to buy that you can look through their thread for replies made and contact those buyers as well, and the threads people are selling hard drives in.

You need also is for members to fix their titles so they just dont say FS HDD if your looking for something special. They should have in the title. FS HDD Seagate 750 gig or something to that extent, that would limit a ton of searches as well and put what your looking for in the top. HENCE why when I make a thread I use up all the space I can to list out EXACTLY what Im selling then a general FS HDD, or ATI Graphic card, or Intel CPU.

Like if you look at my listing now. It says ATI Built X1900Gt, if you stuck that in the search bar because that is what your looking for thats what you will get right away.

Its all in how you search, and how you word it all to get what you want.

That in itself should have a sticky in the FS/FT forum to teach members how they can list their items properly if they want to limit searches, and have theirs stand out from the search crowd. Educate the members in how to do that, and then you will have more controlled searches as well for those who are looking for one part in general and hate to sift through a ton of pages or seach finds

Also as an example, check this out. Stick in the search in the FS/FT forum Seagate 750 gig hdd, and be shocked that only 6 threads pop up by searching that way. Not hundreds of pages to go through, but would be a lot more if people would fix their titles to reflect exactly how one would search for an item.

So its not laziness, but to educate, or use common sense when looking for something if searching is your bag if buying something, or even listing it so it can be found easier when someone searches for your item(s) the proper way, not just searching for HDD or hard drive and then bitching soooo many damn finds pop up because fs, ft, and wtb are integrated.

Want To Buy... how does that correlate with For Sale, For Trade? When your trading something, you have it. When your selling something, you have it. When you want to buy, you do not have it. WTB needs it's own forum imho.
