I just added a com/serial port to my PC that only had one com/serial on it. My MB had a 7 pin com 2 connector on it so I bought a cable that connects to that and on the other end has a 9 pin com/serial port on it. My new com 2 port is not
working though. My modem is on Com2. How do I switch my modem to Com3 and my new serial port to Com2. Thank you
for any help.

depends on the modem. If it's a winmodem, you should be able to do it thru the contol panel/system. If it is a hardware modem, you have to swithc the jumpers around. See the documentation that came with the modem. I usually set my modems to com 4. :D

I have a My Favorite PC and there is no documention about the modem. Any idea what I should try first? If I pulled my modem out do you think it would make my new com/serial port Com2?

You need to make sure the com port is enabled in your CMOS setup; you may also need to manually install it in Windows if it's not detected 'auto-magically'.
