Com port dilemma

Being a true geek, I used the excuse that a usb-serial adapter causing BSODs in W2K was a good excuse to buy a new E200 Cassiopeia, because it would free up my serial port. For some reason my digital camera connected directly to the serial port won't communicate. I have verified that it is com1 and set the software accordingly, and even lowered the port speed and can't get it to communicate. Suggestions appreciated. Thank you.

What sort of program are you using to download the camera images thru the serial port? Do you have a scanner also?
Even the software that came with my camera will pick up the scanner and vice versa. I have to go
and select the device in each program when I download. It doesn't matter that I have a parallel
scanner and serial camera

I am using an old 16 bit program called Casio QVPC, but I bought the new 32 bit version and it has the same problem. I have Photodraw V2 also, and it won't see the camera either. I think I'm going to try a new cable.

I checked the bios, it was set to auto, so I set it to com1. No success. I reconnected my usb-serial adapter and the camera works fine. I'm going to try a serial peripheral that works fine on another system.

Well, it looks like is was Activesync capturing the port even though the new PocketPC connects via usb. I still can't get the old 16 bit proggie to work, but the new one does and that's what counts.
