I've never worked for the federal govt, but had a bunch of friends that had a 3 day weekend. They would always make it a camping weekend and celebrate Oktoberfest in this town that threw an annual party with lots of polka, hot girls, dark beer, German food, etc... I typically would only hang out for 2 nights (Fri-Sat), but was glad they had a reason to go. That kind of thing is more fun when you know a ton of people in the Fest Hall and cut up with friends as the night goes on. I think we had 15 tents one year and 30+ people. Those days were a blast.
