No, they didn't play this bad last year, or the year before etc... I'm talking before Peyton Manning joined...

you've gotta be kidding me. when your defense lets up over 300 yards RUSHING, what do you expect a QB to do?? how can you possibly blame the loss on him?

It's pretty easy actually.

They built the team around him, and they have yet to make it to the superbowl. Time to re-think the game plan I'd say.

Besides, didn't you predict Miami would be in the Superbowl this year? They have about as much of a chance as Indy. LOL.

:)

I was at the game today, the Jags. O-line gored the colts front 7 like a rabid grizzly.
Then when a colt defender got to the ball carrier, he usually missed the tackle.

They dont need to rethink their game plan with Manning, they need to add that last piece or two.

A back that can give you over 100 yards every Sunday, with or without manning, and maybe someone on defense.

What may be holding them back the most is philosophy. I think Dungy has become way too dependent on Manning and the defensive scheme just isnt working.

There's no reason why you should let a team run for over 300 yards when you knew they were going to run and you had a week to prepare and watch film.

Didn't they have a back that averaged 100 yards a game last year, and the year before?

And, you are right - the philosophy that one whiny QB will win a superbowl needs to be changed. The need to quit setting up the offense around him, and spend his ridiculous salary on a good TEAM. He can't win the superbowl by himself, heck he can't even win a playoff game.

No, I said Miami would win their division. They got off to a slow start, but lately they certainly look like the best team in that division, knocking off the Bears and blanking NE.

Your logic is so flawed. They built a team around him, so its his fault they lost? THE DEFENSE LET UP 375 YARDS RUSHING!!! That's not just a poor performance. That's downright dismal. A college defense could do better than that.

Go ahead though, blame Manning. Idiot.

They built the team AROUND HIM. As you said, he is incapable of winning on his own. He had one of the best kickers EVER. A hell of a running back. Some of the best receivers in the NFL. And still could NOT win a playoff game. Hello? It's time for a new strategy, don't ya think?

BTW, isn't Miami in last place in their division? Idiot? Pfffft. Miami won't make the playoffs.

Sorry, but you fail at football. :)

1) you're an idiot if you think manning has anything to do with a defense that lets up 375 rushing yards in a game. Did you read that properly? 375? THREE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-FIVE. Ok. Did it sink in yet? Good. I shouldn't have to say anything else.
2) you're right, Miami hasn't been rolling lately, which is what I said. THey didn't beat both Chicago and New England. I actually LIED when I said those things. Straight up lied. What an asshole I am!

edit: Just in case Math isn't your strong skill, the Colts are the worst team in rusing defense. Meaning, LAST PLACE. Know what they average in rushing defense? 176. That means that this game they let almost TWICE the WORST rush defense. Think about that for a second, before posting more inane drivel.

Maybe it's because I'm new to football, but I'm wondering what Peyton Manning has to do with blocking rushes, considering he's not on the field, and that isn't his job even when he is.

There's only so much the guy standing in back throwing the ball can do. Just like the Chargers vs. Bengals. The Bengals put up 40 some points and still lost. The Chargers didn't seem to have a chance going into the half. It's not fair to say that Carson Palmer is a bad quaterback because of that. At what point do you admit that the defense is entirely to blame for the loss? There are teams that don't average 300 total yards a game, let alone 300 rushing OR passing yards... when JAX can put up 375 rushing yards a game, you can leave Peyton Manning out of the blame. Regardless of whether he was doing his job or not, you're going to lose when you let that much go. Perhaps the problem was that the defense couldn't stop JAX long enough to let Manning have a reasonable TOP.

Okay, based on team performance, Manning isn't the best quaterback this season. We all see that. But if you can't admit that he isn't the problem with the team, you are off your rocker.

You may want to check your stats before you claim Manning never won a playoff game and start calling everyone an idiot.

And how are Edge and Vanderhack doing this season? Edge is stuck in the armpit of the NFL and Vanderhack got cut! Maybe it was the system around the RB and not the RB himself that was successful. Also, didn't one of the "best Kickers EVER" miss a FG that ended Indy's playoff chances last season? Now who really fails at FB?

You can argue about past losses and who/what was responsible but sundays game
was the WORST tackling I have EVER seen in an NFL game, bar none. I was there
and it was a slaughter, nothing less....

First off Deeko, called me an Idiot.

Second, I realize he finally one a playoff game. I was making a point. He chokes every year at this time. Look up his passer rating for the first 3/4 of the season during his career, and his rating for the last 1/4 and the playoffs.

Did you read my post? He is obviously not soley responsible for the losses, but when you put all your eggs in the "Manning" basket, and you come away without a Superbowl win (after having one of, if not the best regular season records for the past 5-7 years), It's time to take his huge salary, and buy yourself a better team. I bet they could get a HELL of a run defense for what they pay for Peyton.

You Colt fanboys are certainly stubborn - I'll give you that. :)

Anyway, I wasn't going to post anymore in this thread, but I had to clear up who called who an idiot.

Good luck, Indy's gonna need it. :D

I'm not a particular fan of Manning but it seems like his O-line can't handle
playoff defences in big games. Look, Tom Brady was held to 78 yds. passing
sunday against the Fins. Does that mean brady now sucks?? No, Jayson taylor
and the rest of the miami defence sacked, hurried, and were in his face all day.
point is ANY QB even the best need time to make a read, setup and throw....

Tom Brady lost ONE GAME. Put his playoff record/passer rating against Manning's. Apples and Oranges baby. :)

Dont get me wrong, I'm a huge Brady fan as I grew up 15 min. from
foxborough. My point is this, any QB can be disrupted and have a bad
day if his blockers dont give him time!. Remember last year when Troy Polamalu
was in manning's face all day? That was how it was for brady sunday with
Jason Taylor. By the second half, brady was yelling at his O-linemen 'cause
they were ineffective stopping the Maimi pass rush. Doesen't help much that
Branch and Givens are gone either...

I'm sick of how all the Bush hype pushes him into the golden circle whenever he does anything noteworthy..and people are putting him in the #2 spot for ROTY behind VY.

Jones-Drew is clearly the better rookie:

.............Rush yards/avg....Receiving yards/avg....TDs....punt returns/avg.........kick returns/avg
JD................666/6.1................332/10.1...........12..............n/a...........................689/27.9.....
RB...............405/3.2.................687/8.7.............7..........196/8.5............................n/a

He's averaging nearly twice as many yards a rush, their total yards from scrimmage about the same, but has a lot more TDs and he has a big edge in all purpose yards..though that may be an unfair comparison.

I'm not biased :)

he's amazing to watch, the mans got the legs of a rino and VERY difficult
to tackle or in the colt's game IMPOSSIBLE to tackle!..
