I haven't bothered reading this whole thread. Here are my keys to the Colts' loss (it was not a SD win):
Special Teams - Russ Purnell (Colts special teams coach) needs to be FIRED. Punt and especially kickoff coverage has been consistently bad. Adam V is a stud but apparently came as Mike Vanderject last night. Newsflash, Halloween is over, pal. 2 TDs allowed, 2 missed FGs, and good field position for SD.
Manning - How the hell did he throw 6 interceptions? In the first half Manning looked like the Manning of old, with happy feet, forced throws into coverage, and whiney face.
He calmed down and put the Colts in a position to win in the 2nd half, but he's a big part of why they got down early in the first place.
Injuries - You have to win with what you've got, but when all you've got is dollar store talent, WTF do you expect? I'm shocked they even played it close. There were 17 offensive players dressed tonight. That is sickening.
Poor officiating - this was hardly the deciding factor, but some calls/lack of calls were pretty bad. Clear pass interference by Cromartie on Aaron Moorehead, he almsot caught it anyway, but clearly would have without getting his arm pulled away from the ball. Also, the call regarding "faking the snap" was BS. A TE is allowed to be in motion. Madden knew it. You guys watching probably knew it. There's no excuse for missing a 29 yard FG, but if it were the same kick from 24 yards he would've gotten it.
Other than Stiles, the Chargers had nothing last night. They played D well in the first half, but their offense was pretty bad throughout most of the game, and the D got steadily worse as the game wore on. The Colts just couldn't get out of their own way. Bad loss.
At least we play the Chiefs next week.
