Hi

I live in Canada, Toronto......so prob looking at like future shop or something....

looking for a colour laser printer.......any recommendations? i know nothing about these

im looking for a good cost per page . medium to high quality . and a printer cost of less than $400 CND

my usage is basically a normal high school student or university . maybe less than 100 pages a month? and of those 90 are BW and 10 are colour?

which brands are better and to avoid?

thanks

I don't have a specific brand/model to recommend to you (sorry), but I just thought I'd give you a tip:

Whatever model you eventually decide you think you wanna buy, see if you can find a credible review on it before you plunk your $$ down. I've read a number of reviews of inexpensive color laser printers over the last year or two, and a frequent criticism is that many exhibit visible "banding" when printing in color.

As the term implies, "banding" is sort of faint striping within the image. From what I've read, it seems to be more prevalent in the budget color laser machines than the more expensive ones. IIRC, some of the Konica/Minolta color laser printers have (or had) this problem.

Good luck. 🙂

A good option in your price range would be something like the HP 1600, 2600n or okidata 3200/3400. The HP's have a pretty good reputation for budget color lasers.review

This site has a very good way of making comparisions of many color lasers by category, side by side.

Lasers

As you can see, there is no really top one. Each has good and bad points. If print quality is more important than speed, then that alone can help you decide.

i just ran to costco

got a HP 2605 printer

its basically 2600 but with double sided printing YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

and has full cartages

got it for $450 CND after Tax . or $380 before .

if this printer doesnt break down after a few years . its definitely a good buy!

HP is a good brand...also I was slow on the reply, but I was gonna say look for something that supports Postscript. Believe it or not but there are some brands who's postscript implimentation is very poor, but HP is always good in my experience.

yeah

but the printer i got

is a little to errr BIG and errr powerful for home use . o well . i rather buy a smaller printer and save $50 tho.......................
