Colors Different After XP Crash

I'm helping someone who has a problem with the way the colors look on his XP Home machine. He tried to install the Unreal Tournament 2003 Demo, but it crashed because he has a Voodoo 3 3000 graphics card. After the crash, the colors don't look like they did before. Things look kind of faded, like the contrast has been run down. I don't think it affects images, just parts of windows like the menus and scroll bars. We've tried installing different drivers for the graphics card, but it didn't help. Any ideas?
