Colorimeter advice

I have my computer hooked up to my TV, and I would like to get the best picture possible.
However I'm not sure if a colorimeter is worth it for calibrating, and if they are whether a cheap one would still work.
I'm thinking of getting this one:

Please let me know if anyone has done this before, and whether or not the think the colorimeter helped. Also I'm not sure what all the differences are between the spyder versions so if anyone has info about differences between the express and pro that would help as well.
