Colorado (snowboarding, skiing)

Have you ever gone to colorado and wanted never to leave?

I just got back from probably my best vacation to date... Vail, Colorado

After dealing with midwest skiing for the past 9 years, and now having snowboarded huge mountains, it makes me want to live at Vail and never come back to Michigan. Not only is the skiing great, but Vail, Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper, and Beaver Creek are all beautiful.

I've finally been able to achive the perfect speed for longer then 30 seconds while snowboarding.... I've found the faster you go, the easier it is...

In a month or two I'm going out to Vancouver to go to Whistler/blackcomb, and I'm sure I'll have the same reaction out there.

On a side note, does anyone know how to become a caretaker out there? It'd be sweet being a caretaker for a year or so after college...

i lived in Winter Park CO for 3 years as a ski bum.
i don't know about being a caretaker, but there are a million service jobs there.
ski shops, restraunts, the resort, hotels etc...

the trick is getting a job that lets you ski every day.

That's why I want to be a caretaker... not only do you get to live in someone's mansion, but they pay pratically everything. I met a guy there who was one, but he wouldn't tell me how he got it.

I just returned from Steamboat Springs, CO. BY FAR the best vacation I have ever been on in my life. I spent a week there, and by the end of the week I was shredding!

It *almost* makes me not want to go back - only because it SUCKS leaving! Damn! I will be keeping my eye on this thread. I'd love to find a way to stay a season or 2 (or 3, 4, 10, 20, haha).

Make sure you have $$$. There isn't anything free at Vail. I paid about $16 for lunch every day, much more for dinner. Hotel rooms in Vail are 300+/night. Lift tickets are ~$75/day, but you can use them at Vail, Beaver Creek, Keystone and... Breckenridge. Vail was by far my favorite, and from what I hear from others who have been to pretty much everywhere in colorado say that vail is their favorite.

vail is overpriced and over rated
winter park / mary jane offers great skiing, less attitude and cheaper.
