Driver fell asleep and veered across, what the hell were the chances of it heading straight for a cyclist...

Hehe, I love riding a bike in my city. A lot of people drive expensive luxury cars, so if I ever get hit by one, I'll just sue the pants off of them! :p

On another note ...

sad for the bicyclist

Not having accident related health problems the rest of your life > being able to sue the pants off of someone.

That's really sad. About twelve years ago, a man my mother worked with was bike riding with his 9 year old son on a Sunday afternoon. They were riding in the city on the sidewalk. The father was leading and the son was only a few yards behind. Some idiot in a rented U-haul truck was leaning over to fool with the radio when he looked up in time to see that he was about to rearend a car that was slowing for a red light; he swerved to miss the car, jumped the curb and came to a stop on top of the boy on the bike. The boy did not make it.

Being the father of a nine year old myself, I can't imagine turning around to see that!

That and how much you wanna bet he gets little to no jail time. I don't care if you were drinking, high, or fell asleep. You killed someone, period. Your actions now you should pay. But Like I said, he will get a slap on the wrist and a year or so from now have nothing to show against him. :|
