I'm an American, and I'm a believer in colour. It just makes more sense with the sound.

How so? There are a lot of other words that end with -or that sound the same way, and even the British don't add a "u." Collector?

How in the world could adding a SILENT letter "make more sense with the sound?"

Wow. I'm surprised at the number of people who spell colour the correct way :) I would have thought the poll would have been skewed towards the no u spelling. Unless we Canadians have managed to flood this poll.
