On my crt the color temp setting is 9300K. On my Lcd its 6500K. What setting is better for a white color?

I think it depends on the monitor, the environment (daylight or fluorescent light or incandescent light in the room), and your personal preferences.

This gives some information.

9300K will produce a cold (and whiter) image I think. But an important thing to keep in mind is no two different monitors (especially completely different technologies) will look the same even if both are 9300K. Choose whatever pleases your eyes. 😉
