I just got myself a Canon i850s this week from Sam's Club ($118 with USB cable!) and after many, many botched prints, I finally think I have it figured out. I have some questions though.
- What's the best way to guarantee accurate color transfer from screen to printer? I have the sRGB profile set as the printer's profile, but if I try using sRGB profiles in Photoshop the color gets janked. Every combination of profiles / automatic ICM settings I've used results in "good" color but not "Accurate" color.
- Most inkjet paper sucks. Every matte inkjet paper I've used gets NASTY printing (and wayyyy oversaturated) when printing under "Matte photo paper" mode. I have to use "Plain paper." And not only that, I have to exploit a bug in the printer settings to make it High quality instead of Standard (by default, High is disabled, but I found a way to enable it.) If I use Standard, I get MAJOR banding.
I think my biggest problem at the moment is oversaturation of colors. How can I turn this down without making my blacks fade out and getting banding?
