First it's insecure people talking about colonoscopys and enemas, then its experienced people telling them its ok, then everyones cool with it, then someone throws a link(shens?) depicting the most awful thing I have ever seen(that guy must like chinese buffets), and everyone at home plays the puking game.
Then comes the "fish and squid parasites are living in your body"(oldest trick in the book).

Ive seen enough.

No more food.
I admit that I fell for it too at first, but then I thought about it..

He was seeing these things through a microscope. Think about that for a minute.. lol

Their descriptions mean nothing without actually knowing what they are. We have many intestinal flora, most of which are beneficial.

More like a ... Power Enema.

from earlier link

Colonic irrigation is performed by passing a rubber tube through the rectum. Some propoponents have advocated that the tube be inserted as much as 30 inches. Warm water -- often 20 gallons or more -- is pumped in and out through the tube, a few pints at a time, to wash out the contents of the large intestine. (An ordinary enema uses about a quart of fluid.)
...
Some people have reported expelling large amounts of what they claim to be feces that have accumulated on he intestinal wall. However, experts believe these are simply "casts" formed by the fiber contained in the "cleansing" products.
...
Colonic irrigation, which also can be expensive, has considerable potential for harm. The process can be very uncomfortable, since the presence of the tube can induce severe cramps and pain. If the equipment is not adequately sterilized between treatments, disease germs from one person's large intestine can be transmitted to others. Several outbreaks of serious infections have been reported, including one in which contaminated equipment caused amebiasis in 36 people,6 of whom died following bowel perforation [7-9]. Cases of heart failure (from excessive fluid absorption into the bloodstream) and electrolyte imbalance have also been reported [10]. Yet no license or training is required to operate a colonic-irrigation device. In 1985, a California judge ruled that colonic irrigation is an invasive medical procedure that may not be performed by chiropractors and the California Health Department's Infectious Disease Branch stated: "The practice of colonic irrigation by chiropractors, physical therapists, or physicians should cease. Colonic irrigation can do no good, only harm." The National Council Against Health Fraud agrees [11].
...
The FDA classifies colonic irrigation systems as Class III devices that cannot be legally marketed except for medically indicated colon cleansing (such as before a radiologic endocopic examination). No system has been approved for "routine" colon cleansing to promote the general well being of a patient. Since 1997, the agency has issued at least seven warning letters related to colon therapy:

Just make sure you take plenty of vitamin C if you have trouble pooping. Cascara Sagrada will help with serious constipation.

Poop threads suck but misinformed ones suck worse.

Eat lots of veggies and you won't have any of these problems. 😉

Hmm.... I tend to agree... I don't think its all horsesh!t though. I do believe that your diet is important at least.

And it is true that if you don't take care of your colon.. you will end up wearing a bag...

So there has to be a middleground.

i have done it and will never do it again.

i was curious, but then didn't feel any different afterwards.

The lady was like you have to do it 6 - 8 times and at $100 a pop it wasn't worth it for me.

you could do a three day cleanse that is alot better for you but financially and physically. trust me.

if you want more help, just give me a PM

While I would never in my life voluntarily schedule a colonic hydrotherapy session, cleaning out your system once in a while with a good dose of fiber, electrolytes, and herbs isn't such a bad idea.

It isn't quackery to understand that there is some gross sh1t in our systems, especially in our intestines. Having taken college level biology/biochemistry and physiology, I understand that there is are natural levels of good and bad flora in our intestines. A dozen things can upset this balance...other ailments or diseases, our diets, genetic factors, medication, etc.

The disgusting set of pictures from the Colonix website are not shens...they are called intestinal polyps. Diet, disease, heredity, and medication can all cause or aggravate the development of these polyps, and they can cause blockage problems and sometimes become cancerous.

My recommendation...forget the colonic hydrotherapy, head down to your local health food store or GNC, buy some cheap powdered psyllium husk, Google for some colon/bowel cleansing fasts and guides, and try it for a week or two. If anything, you'll feel a little more healthy and won't be any worse for the effort. At best, you can definitely get a lot of gunk out of your system, and correct a number of health problems or risks.

There is no such thing as 'colonic buildup'. The colon does not collect stale faecal matter, nor does it get rid of or absorb toxins. The colon is self-cleaning. Occasionally, transit does become slow, and excessive water is removed from the faeces making it hard and causing constipation. However, this material does not get stuck to the colon, it merely builds up until the volume is such that it gets forced out.

Irrigating the colon with water is an unnecessary procedure, with very few possible possible uses (e.g. it has been tried as an experimental method of cleansing the colon before emergency surgery). It is a dangerous procedure with a number of life-threatening injuries reported over the last few years: perforation of the rectum, colon, and even gangrene of the surrounding area have been reported. There is also a significant risk of salt and fluid imbalance (also potentially life-threatening), as the colon is not meant to contain pure water.

Constipation is best treated, if mild, with a high fibre diet. If a supplement is desired, then psyllium husks, or ispaghula husks are perfectly acceptable options.
Moderate constipation is best treated with a mild laxative like Senna (e.g. ex-lax, sennokot) ideally combined with a fibre supplement.
Severe constipation is best treated with a small volume enema containing a stimulant/lubricant - and never by colonic irrigation.

Extremely powerful laxatives like cascara or castor oil, are of no value these days - there are safer, more acceptable options.

P.S. Thanks OS - you beat me to quackwatch.

The pictures on the colonix website don't show the colon. They jsut show some faeces of unusual consistency - probably a result of excessive consumption of bulking agents.

Intestinal polyps are internal and firmly attached to the bowel wall. They are not shed with the faeces and do not protrude through the anus unless they are exceptionally large, and very low in the rectum.

They cannot be diagnosed by examining the faeces - and require specific examination. A manual rectal examination in the first instance, followed by a colonoscopy or a sigmoidoscopy and barium enema.

I tend to believe this over any other claims. Although I browsed some forums today (not selling anything) where a lot of people apparently believe they have been passing huge gobs of parasites and/or other unusual things from their colons. Maybe the products they are eating to stimulate the process are what's producing these weird things but I am still mildly curious - or perhaps morbidly amused - at the discrepancy between official medical viewpoint and what large numbrs of people claim is ouring out of their ass :Q

I remember a couple months back a woman got charged for killing her husband while giving him some sort of wine or beer enima.

Yeah, drink some PEG electrolyte like I did. A gallon of it. 1 glass every 10 minutes. Then have a camera 12ft long shoved up there. There isn't any "hidden" fecal matter.

That is just the large intestine. Those cameras don't visit the small intestine, which is a lot narrower and longer.

When it comes to my ass I have a strict policy: Everything goes in one direction, and that's out. Nothing goes in... not a finger, not a probe, not a scope of any kind. Nothing!! Out only!

?This is Richard Triplett to give you an update on an earlier email I sent today. As I told you in that email, I collected some UFO's I passed and I took them to the lab to look at them under the microscope.

They were definitely parasites. Some of the material appeared to be undigested food as well. I don't want to gross you out but let me tell you what I observed. And these things came from me after using your WONDERFUL product for only 2 days. I measured this one red object. It was 1 cm long and bright red. When I looked at it under the microscope it had scales on it like a fish. It was only about 2 mm wide. It definitely had a head on it.

Another object had a head and a long body that went into a large mass. On top of this head was an antenna like protrusion that had a hook on the end. Not sure what it was but you could see the opening on this thing. I can't believe this stuff was living inside me. Also, one cream colored mass was filled with something that I feel were eggs. There were hundreds of these in that mass.

I tell you, you folks have made a believer out of me with Colonix. I had no idea we had parasites living inside of us. It is amazing and even more amazing to see these things eliminated from my body. Oh, I did see something that resembled a squid. It had a large body and a bunch of tentacles coming off it. It was associated with one of those large masses that I recovered. Too bad your clients don't have access to a microscope to look at this stuff that comes from their bodies. Certainly is scary.
LMFAO, WTF? :Q

I dunno... lol

I am going to have nightmares. If a squid ever comes out of my ass I will just cry like a little girl. That is, after I scream mny head off.

LOL
