it should not be healthy. you are destroying the bacterial colonise in your intestines and flushing the entire lining. I was talking to my doctor friend the other day about this, and he said it's actually a pretty bad idea. You disrupt your natural digestive system, killing the 95% of helpful bacteria in your system, cause more stress to your body trying to replace those lost and let's face it, people have been fine for a few million years without this. It's like saying, I'm going in to your gallblader and flushing out all your bile. Should do more harm than good, and at the very least, wont help you.

As a rule of thumb, 99.95% of anything that is "As seen on tv" is not worth buying, otherwise they would be able to get their craptastic product into retail stores and doctor's offices.

I can tell you for a fact that oxypowder worked for me. I definitely feel like everything is moving much better now that it was before. I did it for 5 days, 10 caps / night all at once. I will say this. If you try it, don't plan on being anywhere before noon, as you will need to rush to the toilet at least 5 - 6 times between waking up and then.

QFT

Add another QFT to that.

Sure you might flush some extra toxins from your body but all you do is stress it more like stated above....the gain isnt worth the risk...besides you could give yourself a nasty intestinal infection as your natural flora grows back... or fvck with your electrolyte levels etc

Just drink some Metamucil every now and again. It's healthy, and it works, and it doesn't taste too bad, the orange one at least.

It may or may not have any beneficial effect, but, oh, the thrill of insertion!

There is - consume a large amount of poly and mono unsaturated fats, i.e. Olive Oil.

unsaturated fats clean your arteries?? I didn't know that.

I knew they were good for you and reduced cholesterol, but is the actual physical reason that it clean out your arteries?

Thirded QFT.
As someone with Crohn's Disease who has done extensive research on the inner workings of the digestive/intestinal tracts as if my life depended on it (because it does), these 'colon cleansing' treatments are severely detrimental to your overall health in the long run. I don't know who first came up with this idea or why people would encourage this, but they need to stop giving suggestions. As mwmorph says, you inflict a huge amount of distress to your system and can even run the risk of developing neurogenic muscle and tissue. That means the natural motion your digestive system makes ceases and everything just sits there, slowly impacting your bowels until the mass has to be surgically removed.

Wanna know a secret for removing supposed 'toxins' from your colon (and the rest of your body for that matter)? Drink plenty of water each day and get proper sleep. That will naturally and safely flush out anything in your body.

Or high fiber diets and lots of Pecans. Pecans have some of the highest concentrations of Omega3's you can get in a nut.

If you want a pill, just get fish oil. Same thing. But really expensive.

I'm hoping SagaLore was being sarcastic. Seems like he was to me.

No, poly and mono unsaturated fats are very bad for your heart. In fact, throw out your Olive Oil and use Coconut Oil instead.

I'm sure it cleans your colon, so I guess in that sense it works...

Is it good for you? That's a different question.

It depends what you mean by 'colon cleaning'.

There are supplements/pills/powders that you can take that are supposed to 'clean' your colon. These are basically a concentrated source of dietary fibre. While they don't clean you colon, or do anything about toxins (the colon's job is not to remove toxins - it's job is to absorb water, and provide storage) they can help easy mild constipation. A high fibre diet has been linked to a lower rate of colon cancer, so these supplements may be beneficial.

Excessive consumption may potentially be problematic - they can cause diarrhoea, or abdominal cramps and or flatulence. In very severe cases of overconsumption they can cause dehydration or prevent essential minerals from being absorbed (causing deficiency of e.g. zinc or calcium).

Procedures like 'colonic irrigation' are of no benefit, at all. They are a dangerous procedure and a number serious injuries (including fatalities) have been recorded. Less serious side effects are electrolyte imalance (due to excessive water being absorbed from the colon. Additionally, there is the risk that people with vague symptoms opt for fraudulent treatments like colonic irrigation - if they consulted a proper doctor and had proper investigations, they may stand a chance of getting their cancer, or whatever, diagnosed.

Only in very severe constipation (e.g. if you don't go for a couple of weeks the faeces get extremely dry and hard). What actually happens is that the faeces gets so hard, that it can't be pushed out. In that case, an oily enema may be required to soften it, with some strong laxatives to push it out from the top end.

However, once the laxatives get going things will clear out on their own.

Faecal residue doesn't "stick" to the surface of the colon.
