Cologne

I've never owned any cologne before and have been considering buying some. What do you guys wear and when do you wear it?

I know that scent is the strongest sense tied to memory so I don't want to smell like every other guy out there.

Scents come and go, and some get over used so it would be nice to know what I should be looking for now, not last year.

wearing cologne isn't about getting recommendations. you have to find one for yourself as every scent smells different on each person.

Build up a small collection and rotate it, it makes you more noticeable instead of just the cologne 😛 Plus wearing the same thing over and over does make it like white noise at times.

Kenneth Cole Black, more often in winter
Clinique Happy for Men, more often in summer
Calvin Klein Eternity, more often in spring
Paris Hilton for Men (whichever one doesn't smell like Aqua di Gio), more often in fall

I also keep Prada on rotation and some YSL.

If you're looking for something new and great, I think John Varvatos' Artisan is excellent and will be picking up some now that I remembered!

Victoria's Secret Very Sexy for Men and Polo Explorer are also good ones but I've never cared for them much.

Whatever my girl says smells good. Right now it's some sort of Polo. Then again I've got a girl that wants a man and not some metrosexual flowerly fuck.

It's next to impossible to find cologne that doesn't smell like a fucking flower. If I wanted to smell like a girl, I'd buy girl cologne. But I don't and I won't.

Our environmental guy at the office wore something one day I really liked. I asked him about it, and he said it was some kind of vanilla. That was strange, because I thought it smelled strongly of cedar. I wish I could remember what it was, because I love the way cedar smells. That's why I use patchouli. It dark, earthy, and herbal.
