What a suprise. The media twists the situation in order to make a story.
The subdivision's rules say no signs, billboards or advertising are permitted without the consent of the architectural control committee.
Before purchasing a house, the prospective owners are given the HOA rulebook and are allowed to review them. Seems pretty clear-cut. This is a non-issue.
I'll take that case any day. A wreath is not classifiable as a sign, billboard, or advertisement. It is a decoration. Thanks for playing anyway. That still doesn't address the overall idea of a hoa anyway, which is questionable at best.
Well now the wreath is made into a peace sign. So does this constitute a sign? I think it is a rather stretch of the imagination to think that but maybe thats what the HOA thinks. All though I think it is bullsh!t.
HOA's are nothing more then a way for people to get revenge on their neighbors when they piss them off. We looked at several houses before we bought this one and turned down a couple of houses because of HOAs. One stipulated what decorations you could have and where they could hang. Another one stated we could not park a boat or RV in our yard and limited the number of cars in the driveway. We have no relatives in state so during the summer we could have anywere from 1-3 extra cars in the driveway from people staying a coupe weeks with us.
I personally do not care what a nieghbor has in thier yard as long as it does not encroach into my yard.
