I just got a hub today. I have been using coax cable. I hooked it up it up so I have my computer, my 486 ICS comp, and my laptop hooked up to the hub. Then I have my dad's computers and my sister's still on coax though a BNC connector on the hub. I noticed that with just my comp on and the ICS comp on. I am getting 3-4 collisions loading a webpage. I transferred a few files and it didn't have any. I had my comp pinging the ICS one and the ICS pinging mine nonstop and there weren't any collisions or packet loss. I don't know what the problem is. Could it be a problem with win ICS?

The ICS comp has 2 3com ISA nics. Mine has a D-link DE-528. The hub is a 9 port d-link DE-809TC.

Collisons are normal on Ethernet networks, although if you replaced your hub with a switch you would virtually eliminate them. On CSMA\CD networks, ie:ethernet collisions occur all the time, but they repair themselves by waiting and trying again, so it shouldn't be a problem unless you see signifigant slowdown on the machines.
